Very impressive that Spain in particular has done this. That said, my own position is that nations should only ensure that 'non-traditional' couples are not disadvantaged legally or financially; terminology is unimportant. If 'marriage' as a term in itself is religious, then who gets to be married is down to the church, irrespective of how progressive, loopy, or plain backwards they are. |
