'"It is unique, yet it subtly recalls, in the sky, the tragedy that has happened here," David Childs said.' Please don't think I'm cruel for this but I have a hard time understanding all this. Perhaps it is because I remember walking down a post-bomb Manchester when I was a kid or that everyone always tells you about the blitz. I don't know. But I don't get statements like this:
What's wrong with rebuilding and moving on? I know it was a huge loss of life but it's not exactly… unique if look at what's happened in the rest of the world. You mourn but after a point you go on with life as usual. The world doesn't stop, the world shouldn't stop. I really don't mean to minimise what happened but maybe it needs to be put in perspective. Besides that is one bloody ugly building. I don't think they'd know subtle if it bit them on the arse, did a little dance, and jumped up and down on as pogo stick singing 'I am subtle'. Personally. |

Again, like TBlack I don't 3ant to seem insensitive, but why 'Freedom' Tower? How is that anything other than a piece of propaganda? Is the Freedom Tower planned to be the new centre of world trade? This has never been about freedom on either side of the debate/war/whatever. |

It "subtly" recalls? About as subtle as the designs of Speer for Germania. (and sorry for the nazi reference but I think it is ugly) :ph43r: |

Nah. I'd compare it more to the gas chambers and mass graves for subtlety. Really, it's just typical American egotism and stupidity. We get two measely buildings blown up and suddenly we're on a crusade to destroy terrorism while acting as though the idea of blowing up buildings has never occured before. What a bunch of sissies and crybabies. |
