ooc: Did you say that out loud or by the finger-thingit? o.O;;

'But we are getting ahead of ourselves, perhaps a quick introduction and I will be better able to advise you in what would most suit you.'

Ekki's fingers flicked fast, hiding under the pleasant facade of a Saturday shopper. /I am but a lowly wanderer seeking to aid a friend in a tight spot. And my companion is of no threat to you, I'm sure he can not even understand what we are saying./

'I am a boot-maker, you see, and a good knife is what I need to cut the leather. I find that the blacksmiths around here charge you more than what is required. I believe one man demanded that I pay 50 silver!' he continued, enunciating the price carefully.

Xanthias was still wary of the young mans reluctance to give him a satisfactory explanation as to his identity but the unsubtle promise of 50 pieces of silver was very persuasive.

Xanthias hastily took in the dimensions of the stranger ... weighing his chances. He was shorter and carried no visible weapon. In a fight Xanthias evaluated that he had the advantage of height, weaponry and of course expirience. THough they were the same age he had no doubt that this boyish amatuer and his oafish friend would fall easily to a seasoned thief such as himself. As always it was Xanthias' greed and arogance that got the better of him.

*50 pieces of silver. Follow me.* he plunged recklessly on being sure to be curt and businss like in his use of the sign. He would lead them into the back room where there were no weapons readily avaliable to anyone save himself on the pretence of aquiring privacy.

As Xanthias closed up shop a voice in the back of his mind warned him of the possibility that he was dealing with people who were not what they seemed ... this voice of reason however was drowned out by the sound of silver coins tinkling pleasantly in a comfortingly heavy purse...

"50 pieces of silver. Follow me."

Ekki smiled swiftly at Lachlan, before beckoning to the taller man. Following Xanthias into the back room, he took in the appearance of it, notably the lack of weapons. Shrugging, he cast his eye back to Xanthias.

'I hope we can trust on discression in this matter. It is a suitable price, is it not?'

Xanthias could hardly contain his delight. The other boy had no style in his negotiation a sure sign of inexpirience - or outstanding masterfulness. THough the latter was much less likely the case.

'It is less than what im used to.' Xanthias lied his mind working fast 'You obviously have little expirience in this field friend, why dont you tell me what you need and then we'll negotiate.'

Xanthias eyes were everywhere taking in eye, body and facial movement of his 'customers'. His mind churning in a well practised manner calculating coldly. This was the first time that Xanthias had been bold enough to deal with strangers but they seemed so harmless....easy money.

Ekki narrowed his eyes, scrutinising Xanthias. Obviously, the shop owner thought little of him. It was to be expected, after all, but he still felt a little indignant about it.

'We wish to acquire information on the guard rounds at the castle,' he informed Xanthias, setting aside his annoyance momentarily. However, when he added, 'No need to tell you why though,' there was a slight bite in his voice.

ooc: Okay, tact isn't one of Ekki's strong points. Nor is it mine. He's such a n00b at this stuff. --;;

'We wish to acquire information on the guard rounds at the castle, no need to tell you why though,'

Xanthias stiffened involuntarily at this. He had access to such information, of course, but it was extremely dangerous and Xanthias, being the *Consciencious Objector* that he was, was not sure that he would risk his safety to save his own mother. If these two unlikely looking fellows were involved in something that could give the guard reason to interogate them about the source of their information Xanthias' name was sure to be revealed. The stories Xanthias had heard and the evidence he had seen left no doubt in his mind as to the quality of the guards torturers.

'You ask much of me and offer few guarantees in return friend' he murmured warily 'I can obtain that which you ask for but at considerable personal risk. I would know more of you purpose your cause and your generosity before commiting myself to an endeavour such as this.'

Xanthias smiled inwardly. If he could get the stranger to detail his plans and conclude this transaction he would have information to satisfy both his own curiosity and that of any other paying customer - or even to buy his way out of the dungeons if worse should come to worse. Not to mention be more than 50 silver richer. Xanthias was an individual with no innate sense of moral fibre.

Ekki was tired of playing this game. '75 silver,' he said flatly, 'Should be more than fair to compensate you. You know what we look like, and what we've asked for, and the Royals aren't descriminatory in their accusations of plotting. If we get caught, you'll probably be brought up anyway, so why not trust us and hoarde your gold?'

He made a motion to leave, giving Xanthias an oppurtunity to intervene. He'd lef this gold in his pack, which in hind-sight wasn't a good idea, but regardless...
