She was looking at the body. "Just another helpless enforcer of the Assassins guild. Ignore him... the corpse, hopefuly they'll get the message and leave me alone." He shrugged forlornly. "I don't like killing those of my own guild, but I'll do what I have to. Excuse me for a minute." He went outside, dragged the corpse behind the stall in a quiet spot. He took a wallet out of the cloak. He opened it a read his papers. Time stood still for a moment. It was 'Fox'. One of his good friends from the guild. Apart from the shock of having killed him, he also thought: 'You became and enforcer, mate?'. He thought back. He remembered the day he left his home. He remembered handing in his application form to the secretary, then, the kindly face of Fox behind him, who helped him thoughout his life as a new Assassin. Fox was pretty new then, too, and he wasn't as good as SumoSniper. But he remained a good... no, his best friend from the guild. And SumoSniper had just killed him. But they both new the concequences of their jobs. All Assassins knew you couldn't make permanent friends in the guild. You might end up having to kill them. They didn't care. They remained as close as anyone. They even finished some contracts as a team, to the distaste and confusion of the secretaries. 'Mate, if I die, I want you to take my corpse, remove my best dagger from it, and then burn the body.' They said to each other before they went on any contract kill. They also said it before they parted a few years ago. He drew Fox's dagger from the shoulder harness. He knew, that if there was an afterlife, that Fox would be there to greet him, and congratulate him on his excellent reaction. SumoSniper would have done the same. Sumo stood. He drew his custom dagger, held it over Fox's body, and dropped it. It landed in his chest with a squelch. "You almost got me too, mate." and sheathed Fox's dagger. He turned, walked a few steps away, turned, saluted, then with a spark, Fox's body ignited. Sumo continued to stand there. |

Quietly, Eyrin stood. She followed the assassin, and stood just behind him, watching the body burn. Now how many times had she seen that? Her mother, sister... friends. All burnt. This guy had one up on them, though. He was already dead. She shut her ears against the screams she could hear echoing in her mind, the crackle of the flames. The feel of grass beneath her feet as her mind slid back to where everything had gone wrong. The raid on the village... the end of her childhood. Whilst her family died in the flames, she'd hidden in the forest and watched. And him, there with her. A friend, then. Not so, later. She shivered, closing in behind Angel, wanting to stop the burning. But knowing it was important to the assassin. Shaking the remnants of her memories from her brain, Eyri turned her head a little. 'You okay?' she asked him quietly. |

"Yes." The flames grew brighter. He knew he shouldn't be feeling bad over this. But he couldn't help it. He continued to stand there, the evening growing into nighttime as the flames started to die down. When then last flame died out, and only glowing ash was left (Even of the dagger. He made the fire especialy hot.), he turned to Eryi. "This is something best left forgotten, at least by you." With his hands on her shoulders. He then walked past her, motioning for her to follow, trying to revive more cheery thoughts. He also felt tired now. Only yesterday he had flown 50 kilometers, inflitrated Huon Shoulder Fort and set the forests on fire in search of a witchsniffer. Then flew back. The whole day he had been skulling rev-potion, which was not doing him any good either. Not to mention last night. Now he, had stood for 2 hours keeping up a flame strong enough to melt his custom dagger. He felt he needed some good sleep. Preferably in a warm bed, and helped along by some watered down Loss-o-conciousness(tm) potion. |

Eyrin stepped in closer, still a little cautious. She hadn't relaxed completely... hesitantly, she took his hand, and squeezed it gently. 'Should we go back now?' she asked. 'You look tired...' |

"Yeah. That'd be good." He said, keeping hold of Eryi's hand, and starting to walk off toward the Inn. They walked in general silence as the last, most brave of stallkeepers packed up for the night. It took balls to keep a stall open this late. As they neared the in, he said "Where to from here?" |

'You look as though you need a sleep.' she smile softly. Without my help, would be the best bet... It was hard to believe how much she'd calmed down since the night before, and even that morning. In fact, she was almost normalish now. She kind of... trusted... Angel. Strange that. |
