Tink snuck around the markets, feeling quite glad to be out of the dingy pub. It was good to be walking around again, with plenty of fair game. She needed a shirt. It wouldn't do to be trying to steal in a shirt stiff with dried blood. The only problem was...she couldn't find any decent shirts. She wanted one that was fairly short, with short sleeves, which was a brownish colour. And she'd have to roll around in it, to get it dirty, of course. She spotted a clothing stall to her left, with some potential steals. Strolling over casually, she stood there, browsing. Finally, she chose a shirt she liked, and pretended to be holding it against her to see if it would fit. "You want that one?" the shopkeeper, a wrinkled old lady, asked. "I'm just looking, thanks." Tink replied. "You just tell me if you want to buy anything, dear." said the old lady. Tink paused. "Alright, I'll buy this one." she said, digging around in her pocket for a gold coin. "Will this be enough?" The old woman's eyes widened. The shirt was nowhere near worth that much. Not that she'd tell the girl that. "Of course, dear." she said, taking the coin and biting it. Tink left the stall quickly, feeling a little better. She never liked stealing from wrinkled old ladies. She quickly hid, and changed shirts. The new one felt coarse against her skin. It had been a long time since she had a new shirt, and she'd forgotten what they felt like. She decided to spend a little more time at the markets before she started back to the tavern. She needed the exercise. Chiros looked out of her pocket, and discreetly smoked her name in small letters. Tink wafted them apart, and ran around a corner. Luckily, nobody was near her anymore. "What?" she asked. Chiros jumped to the ground, lifted his head back and let out a long, loud cry. Tink blocked her ears and looked about wildly. Chiros ran away from her. "Wait! Chiros! Get back here!" she shouted, and ran after him. He led her to a secluded area, some way from the markets, and sat down, looking up at the sky expectantly. "What are you looking for?" Tink asked him, frustrated that she and Ekki hadn't taught him any more words. A sudden draught of wind almost pushed her to the ground, and then, two magnificent dragons, one black, the other silver, landed on the ground in front her her. "Chiros...?" Her dragon, tiny compared to the two others, ran up to them and began to make soft little noises. The beautiful dragons looked over to Tink. A thought struck her. "Chiros...are these your parents?" she asked, shakily. Chiros nodded and bounced happily. The larger of the two, the silver one, walked gracefully over to Tink and knelt down. He held one wing back, inviting her to climb on. Tink, to nervous to do anything else, did so. The black dragon, Chiros' mother, scooped him up and took off. The silver dragon took off as well. Tink closed her eyes tightly, hoping the dragons wouldn't let her fall to her death. |
