I have been re thinking the Assassin usage.

I know with the recent ETC Assassin with Weeping Blades and Pot of Strength has been very popular great vs. Monstrous cavalry and monsters but is this build optimal vs. Elves?

An assassin with a Tail Weapon and 5 poisoned attacks with ASF re-rolls to hit vs. High Elf White Lions and Swordmasters. 4 of these hits if they wound will have -2 to armor save if in the Razor Banner unit. Also because the attacks aren't Magical it negates the Banner of World Dragon.

Likewise vs. the Frost Phoenix re-rolls to hit and improving the odds of poison hitting the phoenix (by putting Bless with Filth on the Assassins unit it doubles the odds of hitting with poison).

Also by giving this assassin the Other tricksters Shard it can make Phoenix Guard and Demons re-roll their Ward Saves for a pretty cheap cost.

Even though white lions and swordmasters are forced to strike at initiative cos of their great weapons I think they still have the 'always strike first rule' which means you wont get rerolls to hit.
Can anybody confirm this?

Also I think the frost phoenix may cancel your asf....or at least the rerolls.

If the solution isn't 'Rat ogres' then I'm afraid there's not really a problem to start with ... :-D

As far as I know, if they have ASF and 2HW with ASL, it cancels out and they go according to their Initiative. As assassin has ASF, he would go with rerolls.

I think you may be right re: the Frost phoenix so it will be Initiative order no re-rolls as the Assassin will act like a White Lion with the ASF canceled.

Oi,
I've found, that Regeneration could be a problem for Fellbalde. So Assasin without magic weapon can help:
StormVermins with Banner of Ethernal Flame, Assasin with extra weapon (does his tail attacks are ASF?), maybe with Shadow Magnet & PoS plus Warlord with Fellblade. Doom for all regenrating monsters/monstrous infantry.

Things with regen will still flee in terror of a Fellblade warlord
They typically have low WS / I, meaning the Warlord will go first and hit on 3+
Their regen won't save them
