Another question from my last game: An unengagedDoomwheel goes out of control at the end of a phase in which it took a wound. Does this apply to a Doomwheel that took a wound in close combat and then wiped out/pursued/ from an enemy? I am fairly sure that it shouldn't going by ROI, but how does RAW work out? It's a bit rules-lawyery, but the text reads "At the end of any phase in which an unengaged Doomwheel takes a wound" Since the Doomwheel was engaged when it took the wound, no test... |

So there are a couple ways this can work out. If you took damage, and then got into close combat, you wouldn't take the test, because you are currently engaged, and do not roll OOC. If you took damage in combat, but then won combat, you would have been engaged when you took the wound, thus being engaged at the time of the wound, and no longer have to take roll OOC. If you take a wound, due to some spell or effect during your movement, get into combat, but the opponant flees, or for whatever reason you do not find yourself engaged at the end of movement phase, THEN you roll for OOC, as you were never engaged at any point during the phase in which you took a wound. Remember, you only roll for OOC if you took a wound while unengaged IN THAT PHASE. Therefore, you can take a wound from a spell while engaged in combat, have that unit die or run away, and still not have to take the test I apologize for any confusion with my post, I'm mobile ATM. Edit, for a better example, let's say your Doomwheel was engaged with a unit, and you fired a doomrocket semi-poorly, and accidently hit the unit AND your Doomwheel. If the Doomrocket kills the unit, and your Doomwheel takes a wound, it does not have to take a test, as it was engaged in combat at the time of the wound. However, if you were next to the unit, but not in base contact, you would have to roll for OOC. Rules get wonky, as it says at the end of the phase, but since it was engaged at the time of the wound, common sense dictates that it wound not have to test, as it was preoccupied with the combat it was in, even if it was unengaged at the end of the phase. This is also true in the fact that if a lone Doomwheel wins a combat, but takes a wound prior to overrunning, the Doomwheel doesn't test for OOC. That would be silly, having the Doomwheel fall apart after every combat. As always, you should use The Most Important Rule if you and your opponant disagree.
