So let us look at it in a mathematical way: Any rule imposing re-roll successful and re-roll unsuccesful will result in something like this: Let's say rerolls with a to hit roll of 4+ (so you have to reroll succesfull to hit and you can reroll misses) The result is: 1 = Reroll (mis so reroll) 2 = Reroll (mis so reroll) 3 = Reroll (mis so reroll) 4 = Reroll (hit so reroll) 5 = Reroll (hit so reroll) 6 = Reroll (hit so reroll) Whatever the to hit roll, you reroll any dice thrown. So it is easier to cancel the rule and roll just 1 die because the first roll is irrelevant. This is also exactly the case where you have the reroll from Hold Your Ground and the Sacred Banner of the Horned Rat. They both cancel because for every outcome some rule sais you have to reroll. So why are the re-rolls form the Fellblade and Third eye not canceling? Because there are outcomes which are unaffected by both rules. So in this case they are not the same and as already pointed out a lot in this thread: you should just reroll once and then everything is fine. |
