Hi guys,I am opening this topic to get some suggestions to beat this army;I have looked for some info in the forum but the army specific tactica section has not been updated to the new book yet! Factually speaking I would like to start a discussion about how to defeat Woc:which units to use, which battle tactics are more effective, guides to a competitive list building,deployment...... Thanks a lot rats mates! |

6 dice dreaded thirteenth at the demon prince if they have one. You're guaranteed to kill it with no saves allowed( no armour save/scaly skin save if they took it, no charmed shield, and no 3+ ward save that only fail on a roll of a 2), you get 500+ points for taking it out because they are usually the general, protect your artillery from it, and mitigate their magic phase (no death magic for you ) I can't think of how many times a warriors of chaos player hasn't seen this coming because they were expecting me to cast it at their big blocks of warriors, and I ended up winning because of the 500+ point swing from taking it out

You are correct,DP is not an infantry so the 13th cannot be cast on him; as for my personal experience I find it very hard to play those battles because it seems like tryng to "catch points" where is it possible rather than playng a game trying to run the army down. |

Oh right Well then I guess tar pitting their units with big blocks of skavenslaves and then blasting them into oblivion with warp-lightning would be the way to go |

WoC is pretty damn tough. The main thing that gets me when playing them is there cheap chariots and chimeras. If you take spells of ruin and get cracks call I'd say you would easily own most WoC armies by being able to deal with those two.

Doomwheels, Wlc, and oddly jezzails/PWG's. Doomwheels Zzap any of the monsters they bring along. With careful positioning (well as much as you can with random movement) you can really limit where their flying monsters go (no one wants to be auto popped by a lucky dice roll). Wlc hits the monsters, chariots, or big blocks. PWG's are awesome at taking out the gorebeast chariots. Seriously do not let a gorebeast chariot get anywhere near your lines. I have seen two of the damn things weather 3 rounds of non furnaced plague monks wailing on them and they only lost a wound a piece! Jezails is an odd choice. Thought to be crap by most people (includng myself), they can provide a distraction if taken in large numbers (I run 4 x 3 man squads in 3k games). The math says they should do terrible, but on table experience has recently been making me doubt the math. Last game they killed one phoenix outright and finished off the second in 3 turns

GW, sucking the fun out of the hobby since 1999. Never worry. Worst case scenario you die, and then there was no point worrying anyways. Skaven repaint overhaul Number 5! (2/5th complete)

Jazzails are good Vs single models of high points values like a Demon Prince. Rattling guns are rather good vs low model count armies and so are warpfire throwers. Warpfire a chimera and then zap it with a doom wheel dead. |

As for skullcrushers, how would you get those points?I really would like to kill those guys but i do not see any way to deal with them efficiently;indeed i rederect them in every game vs Woc but..of course..i have never managed to get any Victory points from them!

They are tough but if your already succeeding in re directing him then your half way already. I'd sling a few PCBs at him it's only a T test but it's a 1/3 chance and he gets no save from it the problem is his save. Ram a doom wheel into them but that is likely to die to whatever survives. My personal preference would be Poisoned Globadiers 4s to wound no saves can fire into anything the more new books come out the more I am liking the Globadiers. |

Keep the doomwheel out of combat and just concentrate on the Zzap shooting attacks. A single round of shooting from the doom wheel should be enough to fry two of them. After that any unit with ranks should be able to kill the last one off. OFC if there is more than three then you may need some WLC backup.

While I can't disagree you should focus your main hitters cannons and doomwheels on the main issues if you can take the skullcrushers out of action with re diverts then just chip away at them. Generally your problem will be the demon prince and chimeras not the skullcrushers if they are diverted.

Use warpfire thrower, scorch, or big block of stormvermin with banner of eternal flame to deal with the manticore. Re-direct the blood-crushers. To me the deamon prince is the big problem, it just won't die |

You'll never beat him in CC so try to avoid it at all cost (although my plague monks with priest with plague censer broke his warriors fairly easy). Big blocks of slaves are great to tie up his bigger things like skullcrushers and knights/warriors. PWG are awesome, especially against single wound, 1+ AS units such as said knights, but great against anything. Jezzails are also a good thing to take for once, and PWM will kill some warriors/knights with some luck. Plague lore is arguably the best lore with wither and lots of spells that don't allow armor saves. I had some major issues with the unkillable flying lvl 4 of Tzeentch on a disc. He would simply fly behind my lines and pick out my WLC, my weapon teams and jezzails with magic. The only way to stop him is to get him into combat and win on static CR, but he would just reposition himself. If you think your opponent would take him then I would recommend a storm banner. He'll just dispel howling warpgale. |
