Thought I would try and get some feedback for a Skaven podcast name. I know no one votes in polls but I reckoned it was worth a try....

Pick your favourite, tell me which you hate, make some suggestions!

I'd like to suggest Skavenblight Calling, but I admit it's probably not as good as Farsqeaker.

I have no clue what you guys are on about with farsqueaker. Is there a reference there I'm clearly not getting?
Well I was going to edit the poll to add farsqueaker and RatHammer, but apparently either I can't or just can't figure out how.

I've changed the bottom option to Farsqueaker, seeing as it's liked by so many. I don't think it's actually possible to add options once the poll has started.

As for the reference, a farsqueaker is is the Skaven version of a radio, used for long range communication. The actual level of development varies depending on the fluff, some are massive and only do audio, some are the size of a TV and can do both audio and visual.

Quiet, I'm plotting.

The Under Empire Farsqueaker
Voices From The Dark
Thirteen
The Farsqueaker
Pick Up Your Farsqueaker
Farqueaker Worldwide
Chittercast
Audible Decay

That is all I can come up with right now.

Rage, a farsqueaker is a communications device used by the Skaven in a number of Black Library novels. It is basically a mobile phone, though one with the potential to explode and kill you and those around you.

MUTATE: Pipped at the post by Silas! I went with a mobile phone as a reference, as phones can range from just making audio calls all the way up to video. Which, as Silas stated, the fiction behind farsqueakers varies on their abilities greatly.

Farsqueaker! I demand a Farsqueaker option with a 'u' in it! :P

I think it was only mentioned in passing in the 6th ed book but a Farsqueaker is basically a long-range radio that far-flung Grey Seers use to keep in touch with Skavenblight and conduct dire convocations and conferences over. Rats with radios is just cool though so you see it turn up in RPG's as well like Murder on the Skavenblight Express.

I don't think it should be The Farsqueaker either. Just Farsqueaker has more of a ring to it methinks.

I lean towards "skavenblight propaganda radio"

While I know what a Farsqueaker is I would prefer a more obvious name not everyone knows about the farsqueaker since it is not mentioned anymore.

I retract all suggestions and put support behind either 'Skavenblight Propaganda Radio', or just 'Propaganda Radio'.

Obscure references are fine for band names, but they don't really work for podcasts, where you want people to be able to find them and hone in on them in a search. Until I read the explanation here, the word "Farsqueeker" was meaningless to me, and I've been around Skaven for a while. If I didn't get it, what's the chance that some newbie who just picked up The Island of Blood and decided to try the Skaven is going to understand the reference?

"Skavenblight Radio" is much better, because it has the word "Skaven" in it, and it will show up in a search. If the goal is simply to do a podcast for 10-15 UnderEmpire regulars, then "Farsqueeker" is a perfectly good name, but if we want to expand it to the larger Warhammer world who may never have checked out the UE, we'll need to choose something that's more identifiable.

Ph.D.

Obvious... which masses of uneducated people are we pandering to?

It could be called the "Under Empire internet forum podcast which means it sort of a radio show but not on the radio for people who are members of the internet forum called the Under Empire after the fictions name of the Skaven realm or other people interested in Skaven".
But that kinda where we need to go on "people won't know it front".

I've been into Skaven for a bit over a year and *I've* managed to hear about farsqueeking. Somehow. So it can't be that hard. Besides, it doesn't really matter if people immediately know what it is. That's what explanation is for. Also gives the people in the know this lovely feeling of smugness.

Short.
Thematically appropriate.
Punnerific. (mobile phones are prone to "exploding IRL too)
I suggested it.

Can't beat Farsqueeker.
