Some decent work, but really a shame there are only three entries.
Time to get started on those character models for the next one, everyone! ^_^

I admit that I was tempted to hold back the competition in the hopes of getting more entries, but that didn't seem fair to the people who got their entries in on-deadline. This category was always a risk, in that it seemed a little too easy, but I really like the entries we got.

Yeah, perhaps.
And on the other hand, I guess things like rat darts aren't exactly the thing people spend most time painting on, so even though it's easy, it's maybe not the most tempting thing to expose your painting skills with.
In that sense the next one should make for a huge amount of entries, everyone saving their best efforts for their general to make a glorious appearance here. ^_^

Also a lot of army diaries have pictures of rats in them already, so that rules quite a few people out from entering too. Unless they wanted to paint up some more just for the competition.

But yes, I do love the extra character all three entries display. /cheesy mode: They're all winners to me!

I got over ambitious this time around. I was building Cages out of Paperclips and Workbenches out of clay, scouting ebay for interesting Rats, and never go around to actually PAINTING anything.

then my wife made me move

This competition is now concluded. The winner, with over two-thirds of the votes cast, is Jona, who has now won twice in a row! Congratulations to everybody. There weren't a lot of entries this time, but the ones we had were good! On to the next contest.

Hey Jona ,thought that was your work
It's a really nice piece , very original and well executed painting and sculpting . The piece looks alive. Defiantly the best painted piece here. Well done

Thanks all!
I was quite happy with it as well, apart from the sloppy attempt at OSL.
I'm glad you see improvement in my work, hannannibal. Only a couple of days and you can lift me to new heights. ^_^
Now that the contest is over, I'd like to give some feedback on the other entries.
For the first one, Git-Git's, I like the fact that you've used very different models for the packmasters. In my eyes variation is one of the most important things to make a model look realistic or interesting, something you also use in your positioning. With that in mind, I think your models would have benefitted from a little more variation in the colours, especially the giant rats. Even without more elaborate painting, just picking different paints for the different rats would make a huge difference.
The second one, Skaven Rich's, was the one that got my vote. It looks like a lot is going on in that unit, and the models all seem to be well painted. The blurry picture makes it hard to spot the exact details though, which is a shame after the work you've put in the painting. I'd love to see some more pictures of that unit.
Well done both, I hope you're entering the next one as well. ^_^

Jona , thanks for the feedback. As you know it is always welcome
My approach to this comp was ,as I haven't developed the skill level of our forums group ,painting standard I decided on the numbers route. I never relished how many different giant rats were out there. I had committed to 30 for my painting vows so that was always going to be the minimum
I will try and take a few better pics and PM to you soon so you can have a better look

Thanks Jona! I agree that more colour differences would have made it better. My patience could only be stretched so far, this time. :P

Just throwing a quick question in here because it's probably not worth an own topic.
I made my montage in Photoshop at 900x1200 pixels, the maximum allowed image size on here.
Yet when using the link Picasa gives me, I end up with a scaled down version of it (as did Olorin with the link I sent him, apparently).
Does anyone know how to link to the original size, or should I just switch to another picture hosting site?
