So, I'm back from a long time away. I've decided to start a new Skaven army. My second one in two years. My last army can be seen here - http://s6.zetaboards.com/The_UnderEmpire/topic/8808988/1/ and this time around I have changed the basing, added some different colours and will be more conversions and unit fillers. I have written some fluff and painted my first model which will be used as a Warlord. I'm still awaiting my mountain of plastic Sprues to arrive.

Clan Variskikk
Clan Variskikk specialise in blending dark sorcery and arcane technology. Long been in the shadow of the predominant Clan Skyre, they have made a name for themselves and continue to build and sell to other smaller clans.

The clever Warlock Engineers of Clan Variskikk are ever busy creating experimental new weapons and continually tinkering with previous designs of their deadly arsenal. Event the clans Hell Pit Abomination has been bred with technology, science e and sorcery (and don't forget Warpstone) to create a truly disgusting and terrifying weapon.

Grey Seer Variskikk himself is a powerful sorcerer, able the channel the raw magical energies in the air and use it for destruction. Whilst his clan has expanded in size, so has his wealth. With this he has hordes of slaves at his disposal and will ever enter battle riding atop his Screaming Bell pushed by the finest Stormvermin. As Variskikk's reputation has spread far and wide, he has gained enemies in both the Underempire and above ground. In his later years, Variskikk has grown extremely paranoid and now never leaves the side of his hired swords. Two Assassin mercenaries from Clan Eshin. Many Warlords and Chieftains have tried to overturn Variskikk but have been quickly executed by these elite killers.

Yeah the last one was fun to do! Needed it done quick for tournaments. Next up will a Doomflayer with a custom base insert so I can use it as a Doomflayer or as unit filler replacing 6 models :)
I've undercoated the Doom Flayer and taken another picture of the Warlord. Some reinforcements arrived this morning, so I proceeded to making 3 Warlock Engineers, an Assassin and two Rat Swarms. The Doom Rocket Engineer is a further adjustment on my original conversion for my first army. Took a bit more work mind you!

That custom base insert is pure genius, consider that idea stolen

Ork tech matches skaven so well, I will defiantly have to remember that when I get round to doing my twin barrel wlc.

Yeah the base insert is really cool. Means I can use the really cool model as a unit filler or as its actually intention.

Cheers, it's infact my third doom rocket engineer. Boy I wish I could take 3!

I'm to much the gamer, but my first thought whenever I see Rat Darts is "so how does he take just 2 wounds..."

Nice work.

How often does a rat dart take just two wounds and not run off hopelessly anyways? I have never had a problem with it (then again I use unit fillers that can count up to 15 rats in almost every unit I own, so am used to keeping count of how many wounds a unit has on a piece of paper).

When you're a lousy tactician like I am? About 1 game in 5. I try to keep what's on the table what's actually there, because I'm trying to remember, rules, tactics, gear, special items, etc for 2 armies. Adding exact model count for every unit isn't going to work. I've actually gotten to the point where I'm using Green Rocks as reminders that my Grey Seer has Warpstone after the third game I lost because I didn't remember to use them to get that critical spell off.

True story: I use a 10x8 movement tray for my plague monks. They got Frenzy baited one game and managed to get ahead of the Rat Dart was that was keeping them from being baited towards the board edge. I moved the Rat Dart up behind them on an angle, intending to charge out next turn into battle while the monks took the bunker in the rear. The Giant rats ended their turn ON the Monks movement tray at the very back edge. and I lost them there. Three rounds later when I'm cleaning up after the loss, I realize there's a full rat dart in the rear rank of monks *head desk*.

Lol, it happens. I often forget to ring the bell on the rare times I take one. So much so that I have now got a A4 piece of paper with "Ring the Bell" on it. I stick this up behind my opponent in my house to remind me throughout the game. If anyone ever questions it I state it is new art deco.

My cousin once painted his charmeleon skinks to match his forest. He then lost them in said forest. We spent a good ten mins looking for the blighters after the game as well, it was not until we gave up and packed the terrain away that they fell out. Those skinks are now painted bright yellow!

I do not think it has anything to do with being a lousy tactician Bounty, more that you have a poor memory? Prob all your RAM is filled up with math statistics for how likely your skyre machines will screw you over:P

Combination actually. I've noticed in my last couple of games that I'm getting panic attacks starting in round 2. Flop Sweat and the sensation of heart palpitations my doctor has assured me are not really happening are common. I don't do well with the strategy parts of the game. Same problem when I play chess with strangers, now that I think about it.

AS for the RAM thing, this past week I helped my table top group build characters for an RPG I haven't played in 2 years, without the books. I'm 'fluent' in about 8 RPGs, and three or four armies, to the extent I am in Skaven. Plus coding languages, passwords, and general trivia. Yet somehow I often forget to eat lunch.
