UnderEmpire Painting Competition 2013 Category Reference List This is the list of all the painting competition categories for the year of 2013, so you can check to see what categories are coming up, thus allowing you to plan ahead. We modified our format in 2012, with great success. Knowing that we were working towards the Golden Rat competition for Skaven Army of the Year, Scarfester and I planned our categories to work synergistically with that competition. For 2013, Skrits and I have done even better, with entirely new categories that should be fun to work on, create useful models, and give you a good head start towards the next Golden Rat race. For those of you who wish to compare our new categories with our old ones, here are links to our recent competitions: 2012 Painting Competitions. 2011 Painting Competitions. 2010 Painting Competitions. 2013 Painting Competition Categories January-February ~ Weapon Team Work Submit your very best Ratling Gun, Warpfire Thrower, Doom-flayer, Poisoned Wind Mortar, or Warp-Grinder. Winner - Jona, Warpfire Thrower v.13.0 March-April ~ R.O.U.S. (Rodents of Unusual Size) Paint a legally-configured unit consisting of at least five or more Giant Rats and one or more Packmasters. Larger units are better. A huge horde of Giant Rats filling up a very large base, possibly with Skweel Gnawtooth and a bunch of other Packmasters, would be better still. Giant Rats don't have to be boring: impress us! Alternatively, paint a unit of five or more Skaven Wolf Rats from Forge World's Warhammer Forge line. Winner - Jona, The Dangers of Running with the Pack May-June ~ Leader of the Pack Paint a named character from either the Lords or Heroes section, or any character on foot from the Lords section, including a Warlord, a Grey Seer, or a Vermin Lord. Any model chosen must be on foot, with no mounts of any kind. Winner - Skritrik, Frikkin Red Eyes (Vermin Lord) July-August ~ The Elite and the Standard Plague Monks versus Stormvermin: which elite unit is better? These are the only two Skaven troop types that can take magical standards, and they both function as hammer units in games. Paint a legal unit of Stormvermin or Plague Monks, including full command and a magical banner. This contest will allow an additional image or picture montage to show your command group and magical standard in close-up. The entry should note which magical banner your unit is taking. (Remember, the unit must be legal, and Plague Monks and Stormvermin can only take magical banners worth up to 50 points.) Winner - Rageaholic, Stormvermin with Razor Standard September-October ~ Mind the Gap Fill in one of the gaps in GW's Skaven product line by converting a model or models to meet WYSIWYG requirements. For instance, you could convert a Warlock Engineer to be wielding a Doomrocket or a Death Globe (both of which are considered magical weapons, and should therefore be depicted), or make a unit of the ever-popular (but not commercially available) Gutter Runners with Poisoned Slings. Include photos of the models both unpainted (to show your conversion work) and painted, if possible. Winner - Lord Pox, Warlock Engineer with Doomrocket November-December ~ This is NOT a popularity contest! Paint a legal unit of one of the less popular Skaven choices in 8th edition. These are: Night Runners (unit size 10+) Rat Swarms (3-10 bases: while 2 bases are the minimum unit, you'll need 3 Rat Swarms with a Hell Pit Abomination, so that's our minimum) Plague Censer Bearers (5+ models) Poison Wind Globadiers (5-15 models) Warplock Jezzails (3+ teams) Plagueclaw Catapult Winner - Valmiir, A Numberless Tide (Rat Swarms) Edited by Nurglitch IX, 6th March 2014 - 09:01 PM.

Can't wait to see what you all come up with for this years competitions. Just a little reminder: From this year on you will have to send your pictures to both Olorin the Ancient and Skrits (yup that's me). Good luck all! Got to make it clear: we both need to get all entries! - Olorin Edited by Olorin the Ancient, 1st January 2013 - 08:56 PM.

Wow, great work with these categories guys! They fit in perfectly with what I had planned to paint up and/or create anyway. I will try to enter in every single one like I did last year.
