How big are Zombie Dragon wings?; A Bonebreaker idea

I was thinking of an idea for a warlord on a bonebreaker. Using a basic rat ogre as the starting point, then attaching hpa arms, the hpa tail instead of the normal rat ogre tail. I would situate the tail so it arches over his back and reaches to the front of the model, as a scorpions tail would. I haven't figured out a head, yet. Then, I would add the wings from the zombie dragon model kit (horde o bits $5).

The thing is, I've never seen the zombie dragon model before. Does anybody know how big those wings are? Would they look silly on a rat ogre, or could it work, do u think?

And, overall, do you think a model like this would be too 'over the top'? I like to go a little overboard with my conversions, but I don't want to go so far that it just looks silly.

NOTE: Fluff wise, the wings do not give the bonebreaker the power of flight, or even to glide. The rat ogre is just too heavy and not very aerodynamic. The wings were simply a rare, but desired side effect of the bonebreakers creation process. And the warlord paid many extra warp tokens for this useless, but intimidating 'flaw'.

I consider them big for a rat ogre, although you can give it a try, I really thing that a bat like wing will do the job since bats and rats are almost the same... give it a try, you could also mount your warlord in a abomination whit wings !! I will search for options for your conversion if i find some.

They are way way way way way way way to big. I will show you a picture of the forgeworld Daemon prince of khorne that has them attached on his back.
That model is about 3 times as high as an island of blood rat ogre and stands on a 50 by 50mm base.

If you want ratogre sized wings look into the tyranid gargoyle wings or the dark eldar scourge ones. The zombiedragon wings are 13,5 dollars in hoardobits webstore so are you sure you are talking about the correct wings?

Mutate:

These are the ones that should work the best for a reasonable price:

Vargheist wings (vargheists are about the size of rat ogres i think maybe slightly bigger):

Dark Eldar Scourge wings (these are on 25mm bases but quite big for the model):

Skrits, I really like the vargeist wings. Dark eldar ones look a bit too....pretty isn't the word.... Undamaged, I guess would be better. Nonetheless, seeing the zombie dragon wings on that khornite demon thing, I must agree with u- they too big. I wish they would fit, cause, like pear said, the rat/bat thing would really shine, I think.

But I think the vargeist (how is that spelt?) Ones would be much more gooder. That's from vamps army, yes? Thanks!

Man, I wish I could hold all these in my hand before I buy them. I have a solid picture in my head of how this should look, and I don't wanna buy some wings that are too big or too small.

P.S. yes, your right, zom dragon wings 13 bucks. I'm not sure where I got 5 from...

Ow, a batogre bonebreaker, sounds cool.

Check the pictures of the VC vargheists on the GW site, then you'll most likely get a good feel of how they would fit.
I think the size should be perfect, the vargheists are basically ratoger sized, maybe slightly higher and slightly skinnier.

I've used alot of HPA bitz for my ratoger conversions. If you can get hold of one of the HPAheads, they work well on a rat ogre imo.

Personally I would consider chosing another core to build the model on, as I think the rat ogre kit is quite dated and not as detailed as the recent stuff.
The vargheist torso probably works well. I'm pleased with the result of using minotaur bodies, for a bit bulkier rat ogres. The rich mans version would be to use the Dark Eldar Clawed Fiend as a base. I will probably do that if I make a bonebreaker in the future. Will be quite a while, the queue of projects is pretty long (prioritizing mordheim atm, finishing my skryre warband, feral orc warband and starting up a chaos dwarf and a possessed warband also).

As always, WIP pictures along the way would be awesome!

Useless post coming up here but I really love your idea. A winged rat ogre? Win!
Can't wait to see some WIP shots of this one.

The grotesque would be a cool one to cut up as well for a mad moulder experiment. I would probably go with a Minotaur. They have such a great pose for it already. I think the clawed fiend would definately be awesome but the headswap will be seriously hard to do which scares me away from it.

I looked around at pics of minotaurs, and I love the way they are rippling with solid muscle. But they stand up tall. My vision is of a rogre bent over, from all the upper body weight, and the warlord standing on its back. Minotaur is perfect figure, but bad pose, and I'm not too handy with greenstuff.

What's a grotesque? I'll look into that one, too.
