Virtually finished, keep getting distracted with sticking other stuff together to get him done, and I've got a brain block on Dwarf Gouger, it doesn't look right and I can't quite figure out what to do. Any suggestions welcome.

You could base pick axe part black, LIGHTLY dry brush some white on it. (make sure to get the points, blades, and any defining curves of of the blade.) Then coat the whole thing with green ink. It will give it definition and make it stand out, but not so much that it diminishes your already great paint job so far! That's how I got the effects on the weapon below.

Cheers fir the suggestion, but I'm really wanting to keep it brass, just make the brass look better.
Update, he's finished, decided to just give Dwarf Gouger a highlight of burnished gold, and finish of the few other bits.
Will take pics in the morning light.

Maybe base it with some tin bitz, then highlight with some dwarf bronze?

EDIT* Just read your update lol. I look forward to seeing the pics.

All in all, quite happy with him, might dot the eyes on the rats on his base, hadn't noticed I'd forgotten them till seeing the pics all huge.

Really nice paintjob. Only thing I don't like are his teeth, but then again my rats have a pretty good dental plan. ;)

Yeah looks great! What'd you end up using? I like the lighter highlights on it.

Just a little burnished gold highlight, and I can now report the rats all now have beady black eyes

I'm a rat, I'm a rat, I'm a clever-clever rat!
I'm also fond of the eyes and teeth (as well as the rest of it); adds some contrast to the overall scheme.

Well done! :)

Cheers both! It was a concious decision to make them so, I always feel the face is focal point of any fig, and with Queek, those incisors are just so huge, you gotta do em justice. For the eyes I thought decades of wearing Warpstone Armour would be starting to leave it's mark on him.
