Clan Spittl; A bit of help!

Hi guys,
Literally just signed onto this site, looking for some help. I picked up my first Skaven bout 2 days back and enjoyed painting him etc so have the IOB pack.
Was wondering; anyone got any clues on how to do the Clan Spittl lizardskins?

Do you mean how to sculpt lizard skin?

I would flatten some greenstuff with a roller-pin or something similar. Then cut out a desired shape and fasten it to the model. When that part has hardened I'd make very small spheres of GS, that I put onto the "skin" and flatten on it, like the scales of a lizard.

I have a friend who wanted to sculpt Clan Spittl and I ended up getting him some rings of hard polyurethane foam. The bubbles are random and would have made excellent lizard skin when rolled over some green stuff... Same idea roll it flat, roll the ring over it, peel it off your work surface carefully and attach it to the model to dry before painting.

That being said he decided to just roll lizardmen instead and never ended up using it so it has not been tried but the theory is sound.

I will do up a sample tonight if I get time and put up a pic or two just to give you an idea.

Thanks guys
Grinner, I've tried the lizard skin on GS before with Space Wolves and pelts and it didnt go so well; i have some foam stuff, I'll try that when my IOB pack arrives and I can get down to it.
Do you guys think that making a flat sheet and cutting out the shapes of the scales with a super thin hobby knife?

Why don't you just use the lizardman shields instead of the skins?

which shields would you suggest? I looked at a few but they looked a bit chunky, I dunno what sizes they are. :(

I've experimented with Clan Spittl also, but just painted their rags and clothing in the blues, greys, and teal colors I paint my lizards with. I gave them skink shields, like Skrits suggested, and put some trophy lizardmen heads on them. Seems like most saurus weapons are too big and heavy for them to convincingly use, but the skink clubs seem to be the right scale.

Thanks... when I was doing them I wondered if they were too over the top, with huge dinosaur jawbones and such, but luckily Warhammer is an over the top environment anyway. I was going to try green stuff to model lizard skin too, but I couldn't get it to look decent so I dropped the idea and went with this.

I used to collect space wolfs and messed around with pelts (mainly trying to make tyranid stuff) i found that textured wall paper is amazing and super easy to mould and paint,
