My new Gutter Runners: Yay or Nay?; Hannanibal's Style + Cloaks = Win ?

Seeing as I ruined a few of my old Gutter Runners trying to remove the paint and then having some bits getting lost etc etc. I decided to make a new set of Gutter Runners in the same style as Hannanibals (He did a tutorial about them I think)

The process of making these is a bit hard involving bending plastic but I must say it does look quite cool right?

Thx Scratchy!

I'm using 3 different models most of them with metal slings and will be making around 18 models total. This one was just posed ideally for the cloak ;)

The cloak is made from an IOB banner and wil need some greenstuffing around the neck and sides to make it a better fit (didn't bother yet).
I put it into a small bowl and poured boiling water over it. I let it sit in there for about a minute or so and then it is soft enough for about 3-4 seconds to bend it. It's a royal pain to get it in the right shape seeing as it kind of wants to bend back at first.

The claw hands look a bit big in relation to the arms (because you're mix-matching 6th edition monkey hands with 7th edition arms), but it's not an overt glaring difference, the cloak looks amazing (and does a great job of detracting from the hand proportions) and with the right paint job it'll look perfect. I think the cloak will really make this model, good job on the conversion.

The cloak works well, good choice of bitz.

I once tried something similar except I removed the nightrunner's hand from the claw (it was the one with the knuckleplate, this idea may need a bit more work with the bandage hand) and attached it onto the existing clanrat hand. This may avoid the different hand syndrome, though removing the hand from the claw was quite a fiddly exercise.

Yeah I agree with the claw part. Thats actually why I'm going almost full sling with my gutters this time around instead of 60/40 Slings/Claws.

I actually clipped and filed the monkey claws, the other hand lost about 3mm in length and they both lost a mm on the side. Still the arms on the clanrats and then especially the shield armis so small that I think even the normal clanrat fistweapon would look unnatural.

Ah well can't have it all right? Hannanibal I recall you having a short sword stuck to it's back on yours, where did you get those bits from? Cause I think it would look good to have a handweapon showing somewhere on the model for the ones with slings, just like I plan on hanging one of those sling pouches on the ones using claws suggesting they have a sling on them as well. :)

Onwards to more cloaks.

They were swords from the Mantic Revenant sprue. You get loads of cool bits on those sprues.

How about these?

Or would they look out of place on my gutters?

I'm guessing your using these?

And this is probably the best way if I want to stay true to using 100% games workshop bits:

That second batch looks best, to be honest. They look more like salvage than honest weaponry.

I do like those samuraii swords. The only reason I chose the mantic blades was they were the only ones I had loads of.

Soooooo what do you think?

Mutate added a base. First time I did the drybrushing of cork thing. Must say it's harder then it looks when you do it for 20mm bases. :)

Monkey hands are always hard to reconcile with the newer models, but the painting's ace. I did a test using the fistweapons from the Clanrats, and they work better. Also a possibility is the Goblin/older Skeleton spearpoints, if you cut them from the haft and file them flat on one side, they may be able to pass as punch-daggers á la the one on this guy...
