Yup,

Just wondering if a death runner with weeping blades would have 2 or 3 attacks?

The Great Bunny. Now with a mop. :)

2 as he can't use his additional hand weapon alongside a magic item.

Thanks for the speedy reply, Silas.

Alas, that makes them a much less attractive option. I'll have to bang out some statshammer on it's expected efficacy versus the default AHW.

What's your opinion on them / experience with them?

After having 2 x 6 poison GR with champs charge a Tomb Prince in a Skeleton bus that I needed to kill to win a Blood & Glory scenario on turn 6 and take off his final wound, I've been very attracted to the idea of adding weeping blades to that configuration.

Quick look says the Weeping Blades are more likely to kill if the hit gets through, the AHW+Posion more likely to get through.

I don't have TK with me today so I can't get specifics, but I'd assume the results are going to show 1 wound needed favors poison, 2-3 is a tie, 4+ wounds needed favors the Blades heavily.

Yeah multi-wound weapons really highligh how the expected number of wounds can be a poor summary statistic for statshammer.

If we operationalize the problem as p(enemy killed in first round of combat|enemy, weapons), then weeping blades have a nonzero probability of doing that, whereas the the single DR could never kill a 4W model in 1 turn

I find a Curve showing percentage chance of an outcome is the best for comparing two things like this. What always kills me is that we're looking at so many variables (WS, Armor SV, Ward Sv) that unless you have a specific target in mind, the data is to confusing for people who can't sight read a 4D graph.

Something which came to my mind:
Since the Weeping Blade for the DR is listed as a unit upgrade, rather than selected from the list of magic items, is it counted as a magic weapon or a special weapon?
If it is counted as a special weapon, then it would open up the option of taking both poison and the Blade, and choosing at the start of each close combat.
If it's counted as a magic weapon, though, there's that rule in the BRB which states that the DR can only use his magic weapon.

It is counted as a Magic Weapon. BUUUTTTT per the FAQ it is non-unique for Death Runners, so if you have 3 GR units, each with a DR, and each DR can have a Weeping blade.
