That overwhelming feeling...

Does anyone else get a massive amount of anxiety when it comes to keeping everything together when one has hundreds of individual models for our army? I always think about where everything is... if I misplaced any models... making sure that I didn't leave anything behind at the game shop.

Am I the only one?!

Nope. Every time I take my army out of the house I feel the same and I actually have left whole units behind too. I am still short 10 dire wolves that I'll never see again.

Not really. My minis live on their movement trays, and are transported to and from battle on their movement trays. At the end of a battle, I restock the trays. So I'd know if a mini was missing. So far I haven't lost one!

I get more nervous when there are spectators, especially with young children who might be tempted to take one of the minis. But so far that hasn't happened yet either.

My minis live on the trays too :)

I always bring some spare trays to put the casualties on, and these usually stay in the crate. It would take a true ninja to steal them (or some very haughty thief in plain sight maybe).

I'm pretty good at not losing minis. Tansporting them on magnetic movement trays and a clear casualty area work fine and they are all so precious that I'm very careful.
I've lost any number of tape measures, templates, dice etc. though.

Well not with skaven, although someone did steal one before. With my nids on the other hand I always count them after a big battle... and I always miscount them too for some reason, counting out 200 gaunts gets old fast...

I just pack away my dead as they die (well after counting them for combat resolution). That way they can't go missing.

I never really think of this, but my club always stores it away in the backroom if they find anything. If I am at a tournament another place I will be cautious to store them in one place. I have cut exactly enough space for my army, so if anything is missing, I will know.

I always make my cases to fit exactly, therefore if a model is missing it really sticks out, I also do the sane with dice!

Well, with the amount of Skaven that I've acquired, I do tend to get a bit nervous. Right now, I am looking into different methods to magnetize the entire army. I thought of buying the neat movement trays that Blue Table Painting sells, but I don't want to end up dropping $400 alone just to magnetize my Skaven army. Does anyone have any good methods of going about tackling a big project like this? (Over 500 models.)

Gale Force 9, IIRC, has a slightly cheaper solution. Search "Magnetize" on the Search buttom up there and you should get 3 or 4 threads form teh last 6 months with various methods people have suggested.

I use cheap metal paper that I stick to plasticard or other movement trays, and cheap magnets. That's the only way I can afford to magnetize a Skaven army. And I transport my models on trays, in plastic boxes. The bottoms of the boxes are metalized and the trays have magnets underneath. Keeps the army safe in case of rough roads.

Back to retirement!

Wow, I've never thought this way. Being a horde army, I never bother to count my Skaven, and always shove a few extra models into the carry case to make sure I am never under the required amount of models. But I don't count them. Though I have not had models stolen or left behind in many years now, so I dont really see the point. For other armies with smaller amounts of models, and war machines/monsters/characters I will always make sure I have them, but for rank and file Skaven I just pile them into the carry case (but still carefully enough so they dont break!)

And really, most of the games I play these days are in my garage as I have a gaming table set up there, so there is no need to transport my models anywhere nowdays which is a massive relief when it comes to Skaven!! :P

I'll second the GF9 magnetized rubber solution.. $10 will get you 3 or 4 sheets that looks very nice when on a good looking movement tray. I have bought lots of this stuff and wouldn't use anything else.

For magnets, look at magnetsmagenetsmagnets.com. I order 250 or so magnets for my Skaven from them and they worked perfectly -- and were much cheaper than other places. You can also find decent deals on Ebay sometimes.
