There's only one way to use a different lore than Plague or Ruin for Skaven, and that's by purchasing the Wizard's Hat from the universal magic items housed in the rule book. For a historical note, 5th edition Skaven used to have access to other lores; like Dark Magic or Shadow. --Cap |

Yup I can't remember if it was 4th or 5th where ikit could choose any spell deck. Also the Ruby Ring Of Ruin allows you a non skaven spell which on a warlock is rather cheap and cheerful or on a BSB if your not so bothered about having a magical banner. |

But with the wizard hat, my Grey Sear is reduced to lvl 2 wizard than, right? If that is the case than the hat is pointless just to be able to use any lore. On the other hand. If I have a Gray Seer and Plague Priest in my army, and both are using the lore of plague, Can they have same spell? I understand as per normal magic, that they should have separate lores, but since skaven have only 2 lores to chose from, and both the wizards above can choose from the same lire, there will be some magic ovrlap or does one of them looses a spell? The only duplicates allowed are Signature spells, so yes, this means that after 13 levels of caster you're going to start loosing spells, but think about how much of an investment that is! Cheapest you're going to that for is 745 points, and all that gives you is naked wizards. |

True... But those characters must have the point allowance for the hat. That said, doe it mean I can pick my spells from any of the lores, or do I still have to rI'll for the spells? |

Actually you won’t as you can have the wizards duplicating the sig spell and thus you would probably need 22 levels of spells before you start losing spells. Since you could have 5 engineers each with warplighting and one other spell (10 spell levels), A Grey Seer with 13th, Warplighting (as you roll his spell before the engine’s), Pestilens breath (same as warplighting) and one other Pest spell (14 spell levels) and 4 priests each with Pest Breath and one other spell. (22 spell levels). Now that takes some fancy rolling but even if you take the Seer out (and add another priest) you can have 20 spell levels without a problem. |

IF you're feeling cheeky you can do it forever. Build Lvl1 Warlock, Roll, swap for Warp lightening, repeat until you're out of hero points. And that would be a list to see, wouldn't it? 3000 points, dual seers and 11 Warlocks so you can drop 12 Warplightnings a round? |
