Greetings fellow Clan generals! With all the “correction” to the rulebook and our Codex, I find myself confused regarding our strength in number rules, and I need help to understand how things work. In the main rulebook it says on p 10: “….always use the one with the highest Leadership”. On page 34 “steadfast” it says (according to the ERRATA p 2): “If a defeated unit has more ranks than its enemy, it takes Break test without applying the difference in combat result scores”. In the FAQ p4 it says (with reference to page 10): “Your unmodified Leadership is the highest Leadership characteristic in the unit. Do not include any modifiers from any source, for example, Strength in Numbers, Inspiring Presence or the Doom of Darkness spell”. And then we have our own "Strength in numbers" rules. a) If I have, lets say 40 Slaves (Ld2), have more ranks than my enemy, the slaves are not disrupted, the slaves are in a 5 X 8 formation (have more than 3 ranks left) and loose a close combat: is my leadership 2 or 5? b) Same as a) but the slaves are disrupted: I recon my leadership is 2? c) Same as a) but my General (Ld7) is within 12”. Is my leadership 2, 5, 7 or 10? d) Same as c) but the Slaves are disrupted. Is my leadership 2 or 7? The way I read the FAQ that reefers to p 10 only defines what is our unmodified Leadership. And, since the original wording in the rule book is changed from “If a defeated unit have more ranks than its enemy, it takes its Break test on its unmodified Leadership” to “If a defeated unit has more ranks than its enemy, it takes Break test without applying the difference in combat result scores”, I recon we benefit from our “Strength in number rules”. That means the solution to a) is 5, b) is 2, c) is 10 and d) is 7. Please advice. Regards, Wolffgard |

You are right in your final assumption of 5, 2, 10 and 7. As long as you have a Rank Bonus, the Strength in Numbers bonus is added to your LD. |

Same as above however your last one, where slaves a disrupted and general is within 12 inches, you leadership would be 7-how much you lost combat by |

That's wrong Scratchy, his scenario D; the correct answer is a straight 7 no matter how much they lose by. The Slaves are Disrupted but still have more ranks than the enemy unit; Steadfast is not a result of "rank bonus" but a result of actual ranks. As long as the slaves actually have more ranks, even while disrupted, they will test on an un-decreased general's leadership 7. Steadfast specifically states within its writeup that disruption does not matter. Page 55 top left paragraph. --Cap |

Cap is correct, very important to remember disruption does not effect steadfast. |
