Doomwheels Lightning Attack

So I love using the Doom Wheel but have some slight confusion on the way it fires.

According to the Codex it gets 3 Bolts of warp Lightning...Roll Artillery for STR .

Is it like the Spell of the same name where I Roll D6 hits per bolt? or is it just One hit per the 3 Bolts the unit fires?

I've been using it as the spell, which would do d6 hits, then if say 3 hit on a multi-wound character I roll 6d6 more wounds. And that is just the first bolt of the three. Makes it really really nasty.

The Doomwheel's Zzzap dooes three single bolts, each inflicting Multiple Wounds (D6) to up to three separate models. You roll once for the strength and that sets it for all of the bolts. You resolve each bolt one at a time, they auto hit but you need to roll to wound. Armour saves with normal strength modifier are taken. If you kill the closest model/unit, then the next bolt targets the new closest unit.

It definitely doesn't use the warp lightning spell :P

So many people seem to do that, and this questions come up at least 4 or 5 times since ived joined, im suprised you havnt seen one of these threads before!

To be fair I've only been paying attention to the Doom Wheel since I got mine a month ago. Perhaps I should pick my FlashCard project back up again.

I think that 6D6 wounds would have startled most players that i go against, but hey, I wouldn't complain if they allowed that :D

If you're the only Skaven player, well, everyone is so used to the uber-cheesy rule-breaking gameyness that is the Skaven armybook I'm not surprised at all that stuff like this slips through.

I've said in the past the wording on the Wheel is poor is does what it did back in 5th edition or was it forth anyway the point is most people know how it works because they remember how it worked! It's very similar to the old one in almost every way.

Hi, another question :

can each bolt generated panic test ?
for exemple the nearest unit to the DW is a unit of 3 ogres, the first bolt kill 1 ogre, does the unit need to take a test now or wait for the other 2 bolts ?

Per the armybook the doomwheel's Zzzzap can hit multiple units, and per the BRB you must make Panic tests immediately, so yes, if bolt 1 represents 25% of the unit, it should test.

Right, forgot that. But it still makes one panic test on the Bolt that drops it 25%. So bolt 1 takes it from 4 to 3, it tests then, if it passes it takes bolts 2 and 3, but won't test. If it fails and runs, then you need to remeasure to see if it's still closest before dropping bolts 2 and 3.

Yep, so it would be entirely possible to zap one unit and make it flee, causing the lightning to jump to a closer unit possibly making that flee and then possibly another. Dev
