@Thawzz. I thought the empire were dead against chaos too! Two-headed griffons+chicken-horses seems very chaotic to me. This is a land (the last time I checked) where having an extra finger or toe will earn you a fiery execution at the hands of a witch hunter.

I think they look pretty good, the war altar was always horrible.
I will reserve judgement until I've actually seen them in the flesh, bad photos of white dwarf pages can be doing them any favours.
I do have to agree with the demigriffons WTF? Comments though.

I think calling the Demigriffs "Chickens" is a bit over the top. If you look at the model they're lions with a bird head. I wouldn't be surprised to find they've atually used the Elven Lion Chariot mounts as the basis for the sculpt.

If my eye-balling is right the 'body' on that griffen is smaller than the IronTusk, and maybe about 2/3 the size of the HellPit. The Wing Span... ermm... well... that's what magnets are for?

The thing I see, and the thing I want so very badly to know: All three of those monsterous mega-coaches are the exact same horse and buggy... think about it....
IT's going to be another $100 kit, but I think we're about to see a single kit to build all three of those. Also, the whole thing is about 2/3 the height of the Screaming Bell, it's just so bloody thin and narrow.

I can't see the 2-headed griffon, but the Demi-griffs are in some legend the oposite gender of the griffons. I won't be surprised to learn that those are male and female of the same species.

Calling the demi-griffs 'chickens' isn't intended to be an accurate description, it is intended as the mockery that the idea so richly deserves. And incidentally, as far as i know the mockery dates back to the old metal cockatrice, which was referred to (not very lovingly) as the 'death chicken.'

Although I might actually be able to use the chicken bodies for Clan Moulder conversions (just add warpstone!) and mount the knights on wingless pegasi.

The problem is the design predates the Griffon that we all know. Rather like the enraged children who complained that Madonna's remix of " American Pie" was ruining Wierd Al's "The Saga Begins" by changing all the words.

I go to work for ONE day and the empire went from being a potential 2nd army to relegated near the bottom of the list.

For shame GW, for shame..

A cockatrice traditionally is part rooster; how is calling it a "death chicken" considered a mockery of it? Sounds like a pretty apt description to me.
IT'S INSANE!: The army diary for Clan Kwokka (sub-sect of Clan Volkn), currently led by Krushklaw the Mad, the evincar of evisceration.

Except for his head, which is insanely small. Hmmm.
Or indeed heads!
I never knew the Empire were into using mutants as mounts...
The head is actually in proportion, it's the chest that makes it look small.
