Quiet, I'm plotting.

Hang on a second, Empire now have a Warplightning Cannon!? Sure, it's light and lenses, but that thing is still a Warplightning Cannon.

I am also not sold on the Griffon. It looks like a chicken wearing a tank as a smock. Interesting that some of the characters are in plastic, though.

alter = bell
lightbeam = WLC

Isn't Skaven fluff based on the inverse premise? That Skaven have been stealing ideas from humans/Dwarfs for tech.

Heavens no! All Skaven inventions are patented at the Skavenblight Offices for Advanced Destructive Artificing so there, we did think of it all first! :P

I jest, the comparisons are indeed interesting.

As regards thoughts on the other stuff I agree that the Griffon is ridiculously too big. The HE griffon is waaay smaller and looks fine. This one has indeed been bred by Master Moulders. That said, the Demigryph Knights look kinda cool, and anything that moves Empire away from the 'sit back and shoot' tactics they currently use endlessly is a step in the right direction in my opinion.

The Witch Hunter looks excellent, may well buy one for my Inquisitor and Dark Heresy purposes but... finecast... :-/

Regarding the assorted massive weird and impractical looking things then they are without doubt far too over the top. The Screaming Bell has class, style and panache. It looks balanced, it looks like it works and it's still huge and impressive enough. These things, while the individual details of them are very impressive, are just like the stupid uber war machines the Vampires got recently. Top-heavy, sprawling, tasteless madness. The WLC thingy looks like it has great potential for WLC conversion prospects and the other two 'goes on top' things seem like they'd look very cool if you chopped them off and did something with them on their own. But for me, those models overall are just silly and I shake my head and 'tsk' at them.

Edit: I mean I'd love to see those carraige things deal with... *dundundun* A light breeze.

Griffon - Genetically altered for more chest meat? Thanks Empire guys! When it's been roasted by a WLC and has a hint of warpstone about it, it'll be delicious and I have so much more to eat now. Seriously, whats with the chest proportions? It makes its head look tiny.

War Alter and variants - To much stuff crammed onto to small of a base. All of them look like they'd topple over as soon as it ran over its first slave.

Demigriffons - Those tiny semi-birds on those massive bases? Are they supposed to be threatening? They look like they got stuck on the wrong base and they just rolled with it. Compared to the Mournfangs, these things look like they're trying to be threatening but look comically fragile due to all the empty space around them.

Wow. And NOT in a good way. Where to start?

First, a disclaimer. My second army is Empire, so every once in a while I tuck my tail inside my pantaloons, put on a feather and codpiece and pretend to be human (the muzzle and whiskers take some explaining, but most humans aren't very bright).

The cover. Yecch. I like the pose, but the engineer is in the tradition of the Valten cover from the gentle shower of Chaos - another pinhead. Maybe if the Empire's engineers weren't acephalic, their contraptions wouldn't be so top-heavy?

The Griffon. Trying too hard. Good luck trying to transport a model that size to the battlefield. And once there, its sheer size means that it'll catch every missile on the table, so your spiffy chicken will soon be a spectator.

I actually like the War Altar, except that it needed to be on a cart (and base) twice as long. Unless that griffon statute is carved of styrofoam, the entire contraption will topple when it runs over its first bump (probably a slave that we threw there, but hey, we are skaven). Then again, I dislike the entire idea of the War Altar and never use mine, so it is no great tragedy.

Similarly, I like the orrery and the death-ray thingie (though I was amused to see that the symbol of the amber wizard is, you guessed it, skullz!) BUT these devices belong on a tower, not on a two-horse cart. If I buy the model at all it'd be to convert them to a more reasonable mounting.

Griffon knights. I actually like the sculpts, I just think the premise is absurd. Not just men in armor on chickens, but wingless chickens. Not. In. My. Army.

I shudder to think what the book itself has done to the army.

Yeah, most of Skyre's tech is supposed to be based on the tech of other races, and then majorly overhauled.

I'm pretty much of the same opinion as others. The altar, the thing under it, and the lazer thing look rediculous due to how big the top pieces are. It looks like they are trying way too hard to make a multi-use kit, instead of making better individual sculpts for each variant.

With that said I actually do like the Griffons quite a bit. :blush: I really like the models.

Oh my word.... That stuff if hideous.
That's not a griffin. It's a chicken-style circus tent. It looks more like Peter Griffin.

Scrolling down to the Altar I thought "looks nice" until I saw how scrawny the horses look in comparison. Then I noticed how utterly over-balanced it all is. The griffon statue is supposed to be metal. On wheel over a rock and that thing would tip up. Also is it just me or is Volkmar unbelievably tall in comparison to those horses?

That WLC thingy... :-/ I don't want to be down on EVERYTHING but it's awful. It looks more suited to selling Ice-Cream than dealing death.

Finecast witch hunter looks lovely. But it's finecast.

I think I like the Demigryphs...We'll see how that goes once the novelty wears off.
