I dislike it for one statement "The orcs, skaven, and worse" What's worse than an army that outnumbers all the other races combined, and lives under them.
I stand corrected! An addition to my list.

5. The Empire populace mostly believes Skaven are folklore. There are a select few that maintain the rat-men exist, but they are largely considered not to be of sound mind. Skaven would not be considered a threat of any kind. That is like us saying the earth is in danger from 'asteroids, Cthulu, and worse", and being dead serious about it.

Maybe the speaker is one of the guys "in the know". Children Of The Horned Rat alludes to
nearly everyone in a position of power either knowing about and denying the skaven or actively dealing with the skaven.

+1

The speaker might be one "in the know", but the way he says it seems to me like Skaven incursions are common place. <_<

It was just a terrible ad.
Badly worded.
Badly presented.
And last bad content.

I thought the empire where all about chaos? The way he said it was like chaos was a minor issue.

1. There was no need for this to be a video. Motion and sound added nothing to this presentation. Do either a voice over or scrolling text, not both. Showing the text makes the voice over redundant, and vice-versa.
2. The voice over guy has obviously had his voice drop pitched. This, added with his terrible reading (putting pauses where there were none, for instance) makes it a very plodding and unexciting piece of voice over work.
3. That trumpet after the voice over is pathetic. A snotling blowing into a rolled up newspaper would sound more inspiring.
4. The end screen with the date holds for far too long. If people aren't interested by now, Games Workshop, holding them with a boring date isn't going to tip the scale.

That is all.
You are correct on so much here. Like I've said, I do this stuff for a living. This video would be used in my office as an example of all the reasons you should _not_ make a video and once you have made it, all the things you should not do in it. Sad.

Again, I feel sorry for the guy given the job to make this one.

Even you, Sleboda, couldn't defend their latest blog entry (well, you could try). The utter inanity of the article astounds me.
I won't post a hijack link but the title is "Exactly how long are 145 paints?"...I'll let you all work out what the content is about. Fair enough they didn't make a video but it's more of the same filler-style crap. Have they seriously nothing better to do? How about some plaggy plaguebearers please!

I'd disagree on the first point. Voice helps those who can't see. The text those who can't hear. Whether the implementation of these are good I won't take a stand on. But I can perfectly understand why you have both, it's exactly what you'd get if you've involved a consultant at some point.
And here I thought I didn't learn anything from that 3 cred special course focusing way too much on usability aspects of e-Government sites. Go figure.

My thread, so I'll derail if I want to...

This I think is the Web teams answer to the same question we asked "WHO THOUGHT THAT VIDEO WAS A GOOD IDEA?!?!" Think aobut it. This post, as a 60 second motion bit with voice over, "Just how large is out new 145 paint line? It's longer than..."

That would be a catchy video.

I'd watch the video of that just to complain. I'm a pessimistic, moaning 80 year old trapped in a 29 year old body.
"Eeeehhh that Games Workshop! I remember it when I was young! None of this bloody 145 crap like nowadays....We only had 3 colours and two of them were black and white AND they smelt like onions...Not like onions nowadays though......etc. etc. "

Heeey, leave Angry Birds out of this! We don't do much cool stuff, you gotta let us have the few ones we manage to wrangle through.

I understand making the web accessible, but I honestly don't believe that either deaf people are watching video with audio unaided, or blind people are listening to video unaided. It still stands that the video needs either text or voiceover, and the accessibility problems for the blind and deaf are tackled in an accessible format. This is the reason we have an accessibility structure that underlies the flashy, self-centred veneer of the internet.

I was listening without audio. Always do. didn't realize there was audio until it was mentioned on here.
