LINK First time I've seen Warhammer on a major news site. Mostly about 40K but bits about GW and the hobby in general. Rings true about the hobby's "relapse-ability". Currently perusing the comments... |

Thanks for this. Have you read the comments at the end? Click the worst rated ones. Some people just don't "get it" do they?

Good to see us Skaven getting a mention at the end there! The earliest version of this article misspelt 'Necrons' on the caption to the photo - if I recall it was 'Necroans' - but nevertheless, it was a nice surprise to see our hobby reaching the BBC. |

I saw that earlier today and considered posting it. Nice to see someone actually did. I admit the focus on 40K is a bit annoying but it's still a good read.

The 40K focus was due to it's 25th birthday but at least the skaven got a mention! I remember watching some random documentary about something completely unrelated to Warhammer or Gary Morley and up popped Gary Morley Talking about Warhammer. Twas very strange. |

I just found it funny that even on the BBC any talk of Warhammer turns into a complaint about the price.

I thought it was a bit of a nothing article, just a bit of filler really, though I guess it did its bit as it was on the top 5 shared this morning. I did as a previous poster suggested and looked through some comments by lowest rated and they vary from ignorant and insulting to hilarious. I though the mention of prices in the article itself was a bit insulting, suggesting that you needed £200 of models and £200 of scenery as a starting point. You would have a pretty kick-ass setup if you dropped £400 on GW kit. Would have been nice to see more of a focus on GW as a recession success story since their share price has about doubled since the start of the financial mess. |

Lol, wow. I too went to read some of these lowest rated comments.. There are so many insecure people in the world. Why would you even care what another does with their free time? And then to go around insulting them anonymously on the internet because they enjoy playing a tabletop game instead of watching football or drinking beer, lol! I think it's pretty obvious just who the sad nolifes of this world really are. |

My favourite went something along the lines of "they're stupid and immature for playing wargames when they could be here in the pub hitting on this hottie I'm looking at" Yeah, your in the pub letching at some girl while your on the Internet on your phone insulting something you know nothing about. I wish I could be as cool as that... |

I saw several comments that said if we fought in a real war we wouldn't play these games. and several which were aimed at lack of females (glances over at kimzi) which explains to me so well why I'm the only non veteran at my store as one of the only non married persons. |

It's just people that don't understand and don't want to understand because they are afraid of being seen doing something that their friends might find uncool. People that go out of their way to hate something are actually either secretly very interested or they turned away from it for some reason. You don't go spewing hate over something you couldn't care less about. And the ones comparing a tabletop games to real wars are probably the same kind of people that blame video games and Marilyn Manson for kids being violent. I saw one comment in there condemning all sci-fi, even tv shows and video games, lol! Obviously they have no idea what sci-fi even means, or just how much it has influenced our technological developments over the years. |
