God Blader's 16. *shudders in fear*

You can now, buy scratch cards, legally have sex, ride a motorcycle of 50cc or less, join the army and several other things I can't think of at the moment.

What you can't do is buy alcohol as such Ratty and I will be supplying you instead.

Happy birthday, Blader!

By the way, I'm sure that Silas was joking about buying you alcohol: buying alcohol for a minor is illegal, and not the sort of thing that any Council member would condone, let alone do.... (Of course, here in the US, Silas himself won't be allowed to buy a beer legally for almost three years.)

Does the UK really allow people to join the army at 16? In the US, I think it's 17, but only with a parent's permission (and possibly a high school diploma, as well); otherwise, it's 18, same as for lottery tickets.

"Allowed" and "Allowed" are two totally different things. YOu are "eligible" at 17, with parent permission, and a GED (since you can't graduate until your 18 most of the time.) In practice the military is becoming so restrictive with budget cuts that you almost need your AA to get in anymore.
But otherwise yes, you can't drink in the US until 21, can't play the lottery before 18. Can't ride a motorcycle before 18, can't legally have sex in most states at 16 (it ranges 14-18 with most being 17+) and in some places can't drive at all until 18.

Let's here it for Freedom, now more restrictive than most countries not ran by Jihadists!

In the U.K you are allowed wine, with a meal, in restaurants, if you are aged 6 as long as you are accompanied by a parent. It's younger in France.
Mutate- I found this quote too but it's wikipedia so whether it's true or not is another story.--- "Between the ages of 5 and 17, it is legally permissible for children to drink alcohol at home or at a friend's house with the permission of a parent or legal guardian." This is a very weird law. I think it needs looking at again...

Oh, and happy birthday!

Olorin you can join the army at 16 but I'm pretty sure you can't see active deployment until 18.

Well it was part of my Council Election campaign to hand a bottle of Albion's Finest to all present...though note that in regards to illegal activity and that the bottles would have been already emptied by myself...not that I was going to do that anyway...*cough*

But yes, hope you are enjoying your day Blader. :)

Happy birthday Blader. Stay out of trouble. I heard that at age 10 in UK you can go to jail. They also graduate from what we would call High School at 16.
