First you need to increase the size of your clanrats to a min 30. Next I would consider ditching the Rat Ogres for a doomwheel You also need more tarpits, so add a unit or two of 40+ slaves I also prefer to put a chieftain or Enginneer (vanilla) in each of the slaves just to give them the boost in leadership to make more time for the hammer units to move in. As for equipment I would like to suggest a Condenser for the Engineer, and at least a dispelling scroll for the Seer Doing the above should leave you with 216pts to have fun with. So adding in your Ogres or putting in a Warlord (with equipment) to lead a unit of clanrats with the BSB into combat, can make them a great flanking unit. But that also depends on the Banner you take. |

I wouldn't erase them if you don't have to. They can be crucial in a tight fix. I don't use too many due to being more CQB. Also remember if you put the Engineer or Chieftain in your slaves you are no longer able to shoot into them. Just food for the thought. Really when it comes down to choice of units is first if this is a torny or friends. If it is friends have fun and change it up regularly if you are just starting out. You can learn great strengths and weaknesses in your units. One thing I will say don't underestimate the power of a Warlord (or two) in the front rank of a unit of 30-40 clanrats. This combination really only dies when you go against much bigger hammers and even then can flank will do a considerable amount of damage. Remember your strength is in your numbers. You only have a few great hammers and a few good hard hitting characters so use them wisely. |
