So I was looking at Weapons Teams, considering a MathHammer Article on them, and it occured to me that there's units no one likes, and a Weapons Team that matches them, and I could totally build a list around it. The theme here is bait and switch, and every unit that isn't a Slave or the General (Gopher of Clan Skyre, purveryor of Tunneling Doom Machines and Lisper extra-ordinary) starts off the table at deployment. To be fair, I think that this list would take a mountain of tactical genius to pull off, and it's strongest point NO ONE would ever see this coming. There's just no way to Metagame against this until you're faced it on the table. Bait and Switch - An Eshin Shenanagin's List. 1499 Points - 121 Models - 6 Units Heroes - 375 Warlock Engineer "Gopher" - 45pt - Doom Rocket Assassin - 155 - Blade of Nurglitch - Mask of EEE! Assassin - 170 - Weeping Blade - Gambler's Armor Core - 389 30 Nightrunners - 270 - Warp-Grinder 30 Slaves - 77 - Shields - Music 20 Slaves - 42 - Music Special - 740 15 Gutterrunners - 285 - Poisoned Attacks - Warp-Grinder 15 Gutterrunners - 285 - Poisoned Attacks - Warp-Grinder 10 Gutterrunners - 170 - Poisoned Attacks Thoughts? Suggestions to stay on Theme (nothing but slaves on the table) and push it to 2000 or 2500? Edited by Nurglitch IX, 2nd March 2012 - 11:06 PM.

What were you thinking of doing with the assassins? Hiding them in a unit, solo or using them as sneaky infiltrators? Just wondering as I have considered hiding an assassin in a slave unit just to see my opponents reaction when the weak unit of slaves suddenly has something that can do some damage. |

I was thinking of putting one in each of the two gutter runner units, just because I like the Look Out Sir coverage, but it might be fun to run them Solo with Sneaky. Especially if he leaves anything close enough to the table edge to be Charged from the table's edge, as a Terror unit could break them right then and there. |

I hate to say it, but it looks like this list is doomed to failure. There's just no punch at all. Why the Warp-grinder teams on the Gutter Runners? They already have sneaky infiltrate which is much better than tunneling. |

TRADE I'm looking for Dark Eldar to convert into DE. Also looking for bretonnia lances and halberds. If anyone has any they would be interested in trading PM me and we can work something out. "And, most vivid of all, there was the dramatic epic of the rats––the scampering army of obscene vermin which had burst forth from the castle three months after the tragedy that doomed it to desertion––the lean, filthy, ravenous army which had swept all before it and devoured fowl, cats, dogs, hogs, sheep and even two hapless human beings before its fury was spent. Around that unforgettable rodent army a whole separate cycle of myths revolves, for it scattered among the village homes and brought curses and horrors in its train." – The Rats In The Walls, H.P. Lovecraft | |

while I like the thought put into this list, I think I have to agree with Scarecrow. your units will all run off with a leadership of 5 general. the best version of something like this I saw was 2 assassins, 3 units of gutter runners, 4 rat darts, warlord (with 4+ ward but noting else) and a bsb. rest was giant slave blocks. it only worked so so, it suffered miserably against anything with good armor or toughness (lack of cannons really hurt the list. but it was still a cool idea. |

At 1000 I have had success with an Eshin list: Assassin - weeping blade Chieftan - iron curse, shield, 4++ Clanrats - 24 shield, standard, ratling gun Skavenslaves - 48 Gutter runners - 9 poison, slings Gutter runners - 9 poison, slings Gutter runners - 9 poison, slings The ratling gun is in there to put core over 250 so it can be swapped for sufficient core points to maintain 25% |

There is no such thing, as free warpstone

the problem with a pure eshin list is that they have no real hammer unit that really punches the enemy in the gut and all their units cost too much for the normal skaven-play. There was a new unit called the triad added in the storm of chaos campaign and eshin magic users that made the army a bit more usable but still... I would maybe mix it with another clan. Please note that eshin can be played effectively, its just very difficult. |
