The only FW I have are the plague marines and nurgle dread so no real issues with rules. From what reading around I've done the consensus seems to be that they are good but overcosted. Some of it is probably broken vs specific armies, but that's true of quite a lot of the basic GW stuff too.

What I really like about the wolf rats and the brood horror is that they make good counts as units. (rogres and HPA) If you were looking at pick-up games you could easily have them in your case and ask before the battle if your opponent minded them. If they were good with it you can run them as the FW rules, if not run them as the counts as. Same with games against friends too I guess.
A much better situation than for stuff like blight drones where they don't really work as counts-as so if you can't play them they are a waste of money/case space.

The brood horror as HPA ... of course ... why didnt i see that before ...

and i also think the quality of their products and price isnt outrageous, although i dont like the design of some of what they do.

The Wolf Rats would make good Rat Ogres.

Also, I am thinking they would make a good 'Kit-bash' for an Abomination?

These look neat. A while ago, I took goblin wolf-rider wolves, rat-ogre heads, and a generous amount of green stuff to make some pox rats and giant rat/rat swarm filler.

I'm pleased that the Forge World stuff has a similar look.

Thanks for the pictures!

Are you going to keep them this way or modify them a bit. The only thing it 'needs' is a tail, and the head could be a bit more ratty than wolfy I guess.

I've tried making greenstuff tails, although my greenstuff skills are complete lessthanamateurnovice, once those set I'll make the teeth a bit more "ratty" and skaven.

Rather than Green stuff I'd get some 12 Guage isulated wire. then use a wire stripper to score it every couple of mm. It would be bendable and paintable.

Greenstuff skaven tails are pretty easy to make, I'm sure that yours will be fine.

I like those skin wolves!

I got 10 wolf-rats. They look good and assemble fairly easily. I have started posting pics in the skaven painting section as I get them done. I recommend these models. FW did a pretty good job on these.
