Im getting back into skaven after a long while. Just wanted input on this before I buy/build it. Total in Lords: 525 Points Grey Seer: Screaming Bell, Shadow Magnet Trinket, Power Scroll, Portents of Verminous Doom 525 pts. (with large group of Stormvermin, 18inch Leadership 7 is great for my slaves) Total in Heroes: 271 Points Cheiftain: BSB, Armour of Destiny, Halberd, Shield 124 pts. (with small Stormvermin) Plague Priest: Additional Weapon, Talisman of Endurance, Channeling Staff 147 pts. (with Censer Bearers) Total in Core: 1190 Points 51 Stormvermin: Full Command, Warplock Pistol, Razorstandard, Poisoned Wind Mortar - 500 pts. 24 Stormvermin: Shields, Full Command, Poisoned Wind Mortar - 282 pts. 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. (i love perry) 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. Total in Special: 280 Points 6 Jezzails 10 Plague Censer Bearers Total in Rare: 730 Points 2 Doomwheel 2 Warp Lightning Cannon 1 Hellpit Abomination: Warpstone Spikes - 250 pts. Total Army Point Cost - 2996 pts. Please let me know what you think, I need criticism to make this list the best it can be, competitive i mean. I was thinking of dropping the small unit of Stormvermin for some Gutter Runners w/ slings+poison and some more jezzails |

Total in Lords: 525 Points Grey Seer: Screaming Bell, Shadow Magnet Trinket, Power Scroll, Portents of Verminous Doom 525 pts. (with large group of Stormvermin, 18inch Leadership 7 is great for my slaves) portents of verminous doom isn't really necessarily, and the storm vermin are a less than ideal choice for this kind of list. even with the razor standard in the unit you opened up the grey sear to getting chopped up by enemy combat characters, your best option is to take the fencers blades so that he is more difficult to hit. optimizing the unit a lot better. Total in Heroes: 271 Points Cheiftain: BSB, Armour of Destiny, Halberd, Shield 124 pts. (with small Stormvermin) drop either the halbard or the shield, as long as he has both the shield only gives him +1 against ranged attacks, irrelevant unless you have him out on his own (which you shouldn't) Plague Priest: Additional Weapon, Talisman of Endurance, Channeling Staff 147 pts. (with Censer Bearers) Get a flail instead, 4 strength 6 attacks is nothing to sneeze at. and that's really all he needs, consider investing in a scroll rather than the staff and endurance talisman, as the grey sears d3 tokens are more than enough to make up for it. Total in Core: 1190 Points 51 Stormvermin: Full Command, Warplock Pistol, Razorstandard, Poisoned Wind Mortar - 500 pts. pistol can go, its a waste of 8 points in this list. 24 Stormvermin: Shields, Full Command, Poisoned Wind Mortar - 282 pts. this unit as a bunker just feels odd. I'd much rather see a clanrat bunker to save points. (you can even keep the weapon team and they are more durable in close combat because of parry saves.) 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. (i love parry) 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. all fine, lots of strong walls and tarpits. Total in Special: 280 Points 6 Jezzails these should all be dropped in favor of some gutter runners, you REALLY need them since you have no storm banner to protect your bell from cannons. (and when more than 3/4ths of your army is slaves, you DON'T want your grey sear dropping dead turn one. 10 Plague Censer Bearers I feel these are slightly out of place, but with a monk running around with them they can pack a real punch. Total in Rare: 730 Points 2 Doomwheel 2 Warp Lightning Cannon 1 Hellpit Abomination: Warpstone Spikes - 250 pts. Good selection in rares, be careful to run the doolwheels FAR from the hellpit Total Army Point Cost - 2996 pts. Please let me know what you think, I need criticism to make this list the best it can be, competitive i mean. I was thinking of dropping the small unit of Stormvermin for some Gutter Runners w/ slings+poison and some more jezzails |

Thanks for the help. The gutter runners seem like a great idea as do the changes to the Lords and Heroes. What about dropping the small unit of stormvermin for gutterrunners and maybe some more jezzails? |

why on earth would you want MORE jezzails? I know they look awesome, I even know they sound awesome but they are inefficient, 1: because they cost too many points 2: because they hit on 5+ on average 3: because they cost way too many points 4: because they can be knocked out by a single magic missile, and they cost enough points to make it worth it. 5: sure they do a well against knights, but who fields knights in units smaller than 10? 6: did I mention they cost a TON of points?! |

Okay, so here is another shot at this... No more jezzails, better build on Seer, added Stormbanner, Dispell Scroll and Night Runners Does this appear to be more competitive now? Total in Lords: 540 Points Grey Seer: Screaming Bell, Shadow Magnet Trinket, Power Scroll, Fencer's Blades 540 pts. Your Seer build is better but the power scroll is considered over powered and cheesy and is banned from many a tournament. You might consider dropping that in lieu of not having opponents. The Priest is loaded down a bit too much. Terror and fear don't really do anything this edition with everyone's LD being about 10. If he wasn't going with the Censer Bearers I'd recommend a flail. Much less chance of killing your own guys and still packs a punch for 25% of the cost of a censer. Slaves: all those champions are a waste of points. The only reason you want to take champions is if you planned on putting characters into those units. Then they soak up wounds from scary heroes. Slaves just don't matter. Censer bearers aren't worth taking unless you're also fielding monks, IMO. By themselves they're not stubborn and don't get that LD jump from the monks and even with a priest their LD isn't good. A little overboard on the gutter runners there unless you want to try and fight units. Usually 7 is enough to take out war machines and be a nuisance. Rare choices are good. One thing to consider: for the Blood and Glory scenario all your Fortitude points are in one unit, assuming everything's going into the vermin. All your opponent has to do is kill that unit and they win the game. Edited by Scarecrow, 4th March 2012 - 09:03 AM.

TRADE I'm looking for Dark Eldar to convert into DE. Also looking for bretonnia lances and halberds. If anyone has any they would be interested in trading PM me and we can work something out. "And, most vivid of all, there was the dramatic epic of the rats––the scampering army of obscene vermin which had burst forth from the castle three months after the tragedy that doomed it to desertion––the lean, filthy, ravenous army which had swept all before it and devoured fowl, cats, dogs, hogs, sheep and even two hapless human beings before its fury was spent. Around that unforgettable rodent army a whole separate cycle of myths revolves, for it scattered among the village homes and brought curses and horrors in its train." – The Rats In The Walls, H.P. I rarely play in tournaments, normally at a GW store or at home, and it can get very competitive, we typically dont use comp of any kind. I agree about the Priest. I was having a very hard time loading him out to help the censer bearers. Any ideas? I get it about the champs, I'll drop them. I have had a good amount of success in the past with CBs. I do see quite a few people with 7 strong GRs, do they survive simple magic missile attacks? Now I am freaking out about Blood and Glory and watchtower.... do we get rank bonus to Ld while in buildings? I will work on the list a litte more... Mutate.... So I was looking into changing the list to add more banners for Blood and Glory. I noticed if I added one more banner, lets say in a plague monk unit after dropping one slave unit, I would be at 5 instead of 4 points. If i put my BSB in that new unit and lost it in combat I would loose the game anyway. I think that without changing the fundamentals of the list I should not worry about it it will be easier to protect the one unit than two units. But let me know what you think about it. Well I dropped the champs and changed the priest build and split the gutter runners into 3 units. But i think it will be really good when I finish building/painting it. So for now it looks like... Total in Lords: 540 Points Grey Seer: Screaming Bell, Shadow Magnet Trinket, Power Scroll, Fencer's Blades 540 pts. Total in Heroes: 283 Points Chieftain: BSB, Talisman of Preservation, Ironcurse Icon, Halberd 122 pts. Plague Priest: Censer, Dispell Scroll, Opal Amulet, Potion of Speed 161 pts. Total in Core: 906 Points 50 Stormvermin: Full Command, Warplock Pistol, Stormbanner, Poisoned Wind Mortar - 498 pts. 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. 40 Skavenslaves: Musician, Shields - 102 pts. Total in Special: 538 Points 10 Plague Censer Bearers 7 Gutter Runners: Poisoned Attacks, Slings - 126 pts. 7 Gutter Runners: Poisoned Attacks, Slings - 126 pts. 7 Gutter Runners: Poisoned Attacks, Slings - 126 pts. Total in Rare: 730 Points 2 Doomwheel 2 Warp Lightning Cannon 1 Hellpit Abomination: Warpstone Spikes - 250 pts. Total Army Point Cost - 2997 pts. Any other critical comments are welcome Edited by Hodg-rat, 5th March 2012 - 06:45 AM.
