Hey guys, not sure if this was a weird dream but is there anything against taking 5 warp lighting cannons and a doom wheel in a castle list? Trying to cram as much no armour save list as possible. IE jazzails mortars lighting cannon with normal core Grey Seer / Bell mount WLE Lv1 + dispel scrol WLE + Doom rocket BSB / Shield 3 x 40 slaves (Shield / musician) 35 clan rats shields (full) mortar 10 x Gutter runners / Poison / slings 5 Jazzails 5 cannons 1 Doomwheel leaves around 300 points spare for a hammer unit. List to try make as much damage as possible as i know hes rolling with 3 big units of 40. Edited by Matt Seer, 27th February 2012 - 01:13 PM.

The only thing that comes to mind is if your higher then the % allowed in the army building list cause if your not then your golden. if I remember correctly(which i may not be) your max for rare choices is going to be around 600 points. 25%. |

There is. In the BRB on the page about army selection, there are a couple of restrictions noted: Maximum 3 of the same special choice Maximum 2 of the same rare choice If you are playing a "grand army" (more than 3000 points), these maximum restrictions are doubled. These restrictions are on top of the percentage restrictions (50 % special, 25 % rare), and are in the BRB. Unfortunately I can't give you a page number, since I am at work right now... |

2 cannons, 2 doomwheels and a Catapult would work ..= ) (if i am remembering the doomwheels cost correctly) Catapult for the inevitable horde of GW Khorne Marauders... 580 total points. |

You dont need a catapult to deal with marauders, just a single well placed doomrocket

Khorne marauders? eat my warp scroll ! Better safe that doomrocket for some warriors, much more point effective. I mean most Khorne marauders have T3 and no safe so even Slaves will slowly eat them away. Charge them with plague monks and watch them fall like the feeble cockroaches they are. Flem, |

While technically the doomrocket may in fact kill more points worth in warriors, it rarely cripples the unit (as T4 3+ armor and 6+ ward on large bases means less hits and less wounds on average) with marauders it can almost eliminate a unit allowing you to clear it up with a slave or clanrat unit. |

I'd actually just cast plague on marauders and focus my shooting on the warriors and knights. Not all warriors carry shields, there are those with other equipment, halberds among one of the more popular ones ( at least in my meta). That one doomrocket could kill enough warriors to make a 13th spell wipe the rest out without to much problem aswell. Mathhammer time! Let's say a doomrocket hits a unit of warriors that are 7 wide and 3 deep. You'd hit 18 models if you get off a maximum damage shot. Wounding them on 3+ means 12 wounds. With a 5+ and a 6+ safe left, would mean you'd kill 6.666666... warriors. This way only 15-14 models would remaing wich is the perfect size to 13 spell (since the average on 4D6 is 14). 6-7 warriors with shields are worth 16 points each so you'd kill a total of 96-112 points. With marauders in Horde you'd hit 24 (if they are 4 deep) models and wound 20 of them. 20 marauders of khorne with a GW are 5 points each so you'd get around a 100 points for them. So in the end with model count the Marauders would be halved if they started off with 40 men (same effect that one plague would have). And the warriors will have lost just less thena third of their unit (but they are worth more points). A plague on warriors would kill around 5,8 models. So the doomrocket (if you get a maximum hit) would be better on warriors and plague would be better on marauders. I rest my pestilent case Flem, |

thanks for the tips guys : ) I won by 2 points so thats a draw? If i remebered to dispell his ongoing leadership spell which stops me using leadership from heros etc i would of won as my storm vermin failed test on a 7. If this is cast do u use the highest ledership in the squad? was a slight rule confusion. but they ran and got caught. I managed to grind down his warriors and mauders before they reached me, 2 x dart rats slowed him down a treat. 2 x Cannons ripped through the flanks as he came towards me. 3 x mortars eat well into his Marauders 4 x Jazzails killed one chaos warrior ! Doom rocket killed around 6/7 warriors. Slaves & doomwheel took down his 5 knights. Gutter runners took the hell cannon down to one wound. Got plague off on his warriors but his ward save managed to save 5 only killing couple. Even though he dispelled my magic twice with a double six and kept hitting his ward saves! I must admit i was very very surprised at the result, on the first turn he managed to cast this spell that wiped out a unit of 40 slaves infront of the bell, whole unit if a 11/12 was rolled! abit over powerful tbh... In my eyes it was a win due to a slight rule confusion but overall well happy! Thanks guys, im deffo keeping this list for chaos, just dropping the Jazzails, thats two wins in a week , go skaven! TRADE I'm looking for Dark Eldar to convert into DE. Also looking for bretonnia lances and halberds. If anyone has any they would be interested in trading PM me and we can work something out. "And, most vivid of all, there was the dramatic epic of the rats––the scampering army of obscene vermin which had burst forth from the castle three months after the tragedy that doomed it to desertion––the lean, filthy, ravenous army which had swept all before it and devoured fowl, cats, dogs, hogs, sheep and even two hapless human beings before its fury was spent. Around that unforgettable rodent army a whole separate cycle of myths revolves, for it scattered among the village homes and brought curses and horrors in its train." – The Rats In The Walls, H.P. Lovecraft | |
