Hello, first of all this is my first skaven list. I will be very grateful for your comments on this list.
My plan is to run Abominations one on each flank, monks+priest and one of the clanrats in middle. 2nd clanrats+bell in middle behind monks and first clanrats , protected with slave units, ratdarts and gutter runners. Some artillery support provided by PWM.

all comments welcome, thx!

invest in a bsb. thats really the only thing missing from the list

also. plague priest is a little overgeared, tone it back a little.

2 hellpits is major cheesy though. most comp based tournaments are gonna smack you down hard and some wont even allow it. its not a very friendly list at all.

still, good first attempt.

Whose list design is this if not your own?

Even @ 2500 pts your lists is a bit too character heavy without providing any major benefits. Drop one Engineer and make the remaining two lvl 1s.

No Priest this time? Personally I'd take a priest over an assassin any day.

Where do you plan on placing your BSB? As he is right now, it's going to be really easy for your opponent to kill him. Drop the Magic banner and give him a ward save at least.

Now comes the important part, ALL of your infantry blocks are too small. At this size of a game you should be looking at 40-50 man units. They'll just die too fast otherwise.

I'm assuming that "czemp" on the slaves signifies their champion. If so he's a waste of points. Champions in units are only good if you have a character in that unit. Since no Skaven leader would be seen dead marching with a unit of slaves those pts are better spent elsewhere.

The warpspikes on the HPA aren't necessary and those points could be better spent elsewhere.

On the color coded list:

The Talisman of preservation on your Seer is pointless. He already has a ward save from the bell.

The BSB could again use a ward save.

Make both the Engineers lvl 1s. It'll give 'em some purpose after they use their respective weapons.

The Priest is way too tooled up. He's fine with just a flail. If you find you have an extra 35 pts, make him a lvl 2, but he really doesn't need any more than that.

Size of Slave units is good, maybe go as high as 50 but not crucial. And again, drop the Pawleader on the slaves.

Size of Clanrats is a bit low. Increase 'em to about 40.

Why only 33 monks? Seems like an arbitrary number. At the very least run 'em at 36 in a 6x6 formation.

And again drop the warpstone spikes on the Hellpit.

All in all for a first few lists they're not bad. Just need a little tweaking and play testing.

I'm looking for Dark Eldar to convert into DE. Also looking for bretonnia lances and halberds. If anyone has any they would be interested in trading PM me and we can work something out.

"And, most vivid of all, there was the dramatic epic of the rats––the scampering army of obscene vermin which had burst forth from the castle three months after the tragedy that doomed it to desertion––the lean, filthy, ravenous army which had swept all before it and devoured fowl, cats, dogs, hogs, sheep and even two hapless human beings before its fury was spent. Around that unforgettable rodent army a whole separate cycle of myths revolves, for it scattered among the village homes and brought curses and horrors in its train."

i wouldnt say his units are to small in the second one. but he certainly needs more of them. WAY to many points dropped into characters that are either not needed or overgeared

Hi!
Thx for all of the comments.
@You have right - "czemp" is champion ;)

Ok the last list was made by one of the ETC 2011 players, and i know he did very well with that list. I know its all about player, but still this list ain't a standard list, like You noticed its to characeter heavy etc. So i was wandering You opinion about this list.

Coming back to my own ideas, i still do not know which option i do like more - assassin or priest, i would like to have both Dev
Hmm my problem is I like things that are not "cheese", I like assassins, globadiers,Plague Censer, , jezzail so i found hard to make some working well army.

On this stage i have nice 3 units of CR/Slaves, few of GR, plague monks, and some engineers. I would like to make two list ie. 1500 pts and 2500 pts. But i want to include my 1.5k army in my 2500 army.
I started with 2500pts army because i tough it will be easier to make 1500 army of the bigger.

I hope You fallow me ;)

Read all the posts, do NOT drop the Warp spikes from the HPA, 15 is next to nothing! If you get tangled with Vamps you'll be crying...

Also, BSB is an absolute must. Usually I placed in with the clanrats pushing the Bell, nowadays have 25 of 'em with weapon team (mortar or rattling gun) next to it and put the BSB there...

Finally slings are a must for gutter runners, the number varies if you want to engage War-machines or units. For a War-machine 5 usually do the trick, but for units I usually field >9... B)
There will come a day that vermin shall conquer all lesser races....
the only race that triumphs above all others...
the only one that has the numbers to complete the quest....
the only ones that honor the one and only deity...
hail hail hail to the Great Horned Rat! Let his power guide us and from evil protect us...

I always try to run more troops per block unit than my opponent, especially given the relative weakness of our anvil units. A 30 block of clan rats vs. a 30 block of orcs isn't going to hold up very long while a unit of 40 will stay in combat for an extra turn or two.

Mutate: What I find effective is 4 block ranging from 40-50 models. That's 2 units of slaves, 1 of clanrats and either 1 of Stormvermin or monks. More than that and I find my army wanting more deployment space.

@ Kruza: There are plenty of competitive lists with assassins and globadiers. Mathusala0 has a nice list where he fields two units of globadiers so it is possible. Jezzails would be harder to pull of I think because of their point cost and low BS. Same goes for Censer Bearers but because of their low init.

If you want jezzails I might try them in a single block of 12 fielded 6x2.

I've never used an assassin they're just too expensive for my taste, plus I usually fight Orcs & Goblins and tough 5 is really hard to beat. Priests on the other hand I love, especially mounted on a Furnace. Multiple, high str (with flail) attacks during the first round of combat coupled with the ability to cast spells makes these guys one of the more feared characters in the army (at least that's my experience).

agreed, but it depends on how the people in your area play, around here 50 is necessarily to keep ahead in numbers. other areas prefer more tactical smaller units and so the 30 mans are fine.

if I were to make a general rule of thumb for skaven units per region they should be 33% bigger than what your opponents largest unit is.

That's like playing DE. From what I've seen unit cap is about 30.
