Not sure about that. He should get some more monks (about 28 in the unit), but I don't actually think at this level 40 Slaves is necessary. Having more units with just three very vulnerable characters is probably better at this point. |

How should I tackle the "bunker" issue at lower points? I often just play at the 1000-1500 range so far, and I often end up with good size units, but nowhere to put my BSB or Seer.. |

The core issue is that you need more focus on unit quantity and individual troop count. There's no real synergy with your army; it looks more like a wall ready to push over. You should probably stick to one Clanrat unit to use as the bunker (maybe take two out to make it an even 25 with your characters). Full command would be ideal to deal with challenges should combat ensue. Definitely buff the Plague Monks numbers, they're going to be your "hammer" and it doesn't make sense to have them crumble easy. The Skavenslaves are tricky. The numbers you have are iffy given they have no shields; either give them shields and keep the numbers or up to 40 each; otherwise they will drop too fast to tarpit. Although honestly, I'd probably dump one unit entirely for something more versatile, like some Gutter Runners or even a Doomwheel. |

Two units of clanrats are way too much, drop one of them and use the other as a bunker. For the points left you can buy additional naked warlocks (very usefull), pimp your existing slaves and/or buy a thrid unit of slaves. Bringing the monks up to 20-30 would also be a good idea, or you can go the "all cheese" way, drop both the 2nd CR unit and the monks and watch your opponents face when you deploy an A-Bomb in a 1000 points game. |

Manipulative Grey Seer

This is what I use at 1k, ser: Grey Seer BSB w/ Shield 30 Clanrats w/ Musician and Clawleader (Grey Seer bunker) 40 Skavenslaves w/ Shields 40 Skavenslaves w/ Shields 6 Gutter Runners w/ Slings and Poison Hell Pit Hell Pit could be considered cheese but our group is pretty cutthroat so I use it anyways. |

I've been playing 1000pt games quite a bit lately in prep for a local tournament. I've tried ways to bunker the BSB, tried no magic, tried...lots of stuff. One thing I have come to realize is that you need, at this level, to have something to deal with everything. You don't know your scenario ahead of time. You don't know your opponent. You need to be prepared. At such a low point level, you risk being exposed to rock-paper-scissors too much if you have not accounted for what might happen. Because of that, my list has stuff to deal with everything. I'm not saying it's God's Own Armylist, but I have been rather pleased with it. The only thing I don't like about it is that I have a bunch of models I would have liked to include just because I like the models, but this is, after all, a competition, so we take the tools that let us compete rather than the ones that are just pretty. Anyway, here's my list: Throt BSB with halberd and Ruby Ring L1 Engineer with Doomrocket 48 Giant rats + 7 packmasters, one of which is upgraded to Skweel 5 Giant rats + 1 packmaster 39 Slaves with a musician 5 Gutter Runners with poison and slings 1 Warp Lightning Cannon There are a number of magic attacks to deal with ethereals. The Rocket blows a chunk out of an infantry block. The WLC deals with block, ethereals, things with armor, monsters...basically it responds to everything. At his level, in with this philosophy, it's a must-take. Granted, we're talking Skaven here so there are no guarantees, but man, this gun really helps you be flexible. The Runners are able to counter a number of things, especially enemy machines and light troops. Great unit. The Dart diverts, redirects, and annoys something I need to delay for a turn or so. The slaves hold the Engineer (who has a magic rocket AND a good magic missile). They really should be 50 models strong, but 39 lets me max my rat unit. Finally, that rat unit, with the two magical attackers, lots of attacks, great Ld, and enough packmasters to last a while, is really solid. I've lost it once, but otherwise it's really done the job. The only thing I don't have is a dedicated bunker for the BSB. I tried some configurations that gave him one, but I had to hurt too much other stuff to make the room for it. In the end, I decided he will just join the rat unit or slave unit if the enemy looks like he can shoot/spell me. If not, he hangs out behind the rats. I really wanted Plague Monks, but they really need to be about 30+ strong and have the Plague Banner to be effective. That's a lot of points. |

Changed it up abit, dropped one CR unit, increased the monks to 30, gave the slaves shields for the save, better this way? thinking of sticking the Seer and BSB in the Clanrats unit, then the W-lock can run around on his own behind the slaves and eventually shoot off his rocket! |

new list looks great Only problem i see is enemy gun lines.... solved with GR but you dont have the pointsIf you dropped the warlock (ouch i know) and one clanrat (you should do that anyway becasue you have 25 and its a bunker for your seer and BSB) you'll have enough points for a stormbanner Edited by scratchydoom, 10th February 2012 - 06:59 AM.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but aren't plague monks 7 points each? Meaning that 30 of them is 210 points, before command and banner, which is significantly higher than what you've posted there . Edit: Just saw that you have 71.5 points to spare, so you can probably afford the rest - the points just caught my eye as off. Edited by Anholm, 12th February 2012 - 03:35 PM.
