Hello this is my first time posting a question. I have been trying to beat a ogre kingtome army and I have not hat much luck yet? I have tried different lists that I have looked at in this section. please let me know what changes I could do? This is my list I used this past weekend. Hello and welcome to The Underempire. I will see if we can sort you out LORDS Grey Seer General Magic level 4 Earthing Rod dispel Scroll Well right off the slave-be-good-stick we have a problem. Both his items are arcane. you can only have one. As for me I prfer the dispscroll. But it is your army. HERO Chieftain additional hand weapon shield BSB Banner of the under-enpire You run him like he should be in combat. That is silly. We don't want BSB in combat we want them in a bunker safely behind the main battle line in a bunker with the General. They provide crucial leader ship and rerolls to keep the army together. So lose the AHw and the banner and take the storm banner instead. It may help with the shooting phase. Warlock Engineer level 1 wizard warp-energy condenser doom rocket This is Underempire approved CORE 30 stormvermin (attached to chieftain) musician standard Bearer fangleader shields warplock pistol warpfire thrower I dont care for these guys. I find we have better hammers. But if you do run them take a naked WLE with skaven brew they can be effective I supose. But they need it and to be in horde formation. I dont think you need the fangleader and you really don't need the pistol lose that. 40 clanrats musician standard bearer shields clawleader ratling gun You don't really need the clawleader but here it may be good to have him chalenge to prevent more casaulties. but lose the rattling gun it won't do much for you against well anything but especially ogres. 20 clanrats musician shields standard bearer clawleader poisoned wind mortor As a bunker this will do finewith about ten to five more models 40 skavenslaves musician spears shields pawleader I like mine 50 but this will do you fine. but lose the but lose the spears shields and champion 36 skavenslaves musician spears shields pawleader same and use the points for more models SPECIAL 5 Gutter Runners poisoned attacks slings you should add a few to them and they will help emensly RARE Hell pit Abomination great 2 Warp Lighting Cannons even better Thank you for your time oh your welcome Now I think you should do well what is he using? This list should work him over. use rat darts to turn his units for a flank shot with the WLC. |

I have still no idea why people actually like the Banner of the Underempire. No offence, but it just doesn't work, especially against Ogre Kingdoms. They have Toughness 4, so your looking at maybe 1-2 wounds each time. Then your BSB probably dies, and you have not even killed one model with it. Waste of points if you ask me. Everything Fenris said is quite good advice other than I actually like Stormvermin. Plague Monks are probably a bit better against Ogre Kingdoms but if you use Death Frenzy on the Stormvermin, they become quite dangerous. I think that unit is very small, and I would not even use Stormvermin at 2000 points. I only would use them about 2400 or higher, where they don't become to steep in points. 30 Stormvermin dies very fast against any decent Ogre unit. I agree that Spears are bad. Use only Shields, and your Slaves will hold up Ogres very nicely. Just be careful not to get anything in their flanks. |

Thank you for the replies. I have a couple questions? Where do you find the information on rat darts. I have looked in the skaven army book and the rule book and I can't find that information? I will switch the stormvermin for plague monks. How many should I use and is there anything I should equip to them? I also was wondering how a horde of rat ogres would do or are they to costly? Thank you Kevin |

Take out his slaughtermasters or firebellies as soon as possible. And do the same for the thundertusks. They are what hurts us most (imho). Dont allow them to charge you, because if they do, they get an immense impact hit. The lead belchers seem quite astounding with their D6 attacks each... but in my experience they hardly shoot down 5 to 8 slaves or clanrats per turn... so dont worry about those too much. Get in close combat with as much as possible as soon as possible. That renders his cannons, leadbelchers and even most of the magic useless. Beware the great maw... that spell hurts bigtime. Use a dispellscroll if you need to stop it! Especially in the beginning of the game, when nothing is in close combat yet. |

I went onto the link for rat darts witch I got a lot of great info. I have one question about the rat darts. To make the rat dart 1 packmaster and 6 rats with a point value of about 23. Is it giant rats that makes up the 6 rats? Thank you Kevin |

The standard way to field monks is 40 with full command and a plague banner, in a horde formation most of the time so you can attack with 3 ranks and benifit more from your plague banner. Ratogres are a little to expensive you need 18 to benefit from the horde rules so that would make for ALOT of points, and without the special chars Skweel or throt i wouldn't field them in this large numbers. Some people run them in units of 2 as a flank unit or even units of 4-6 for some support combat. Flem, |

i think the banner with the potential to generate wounds will help although dropping it for more bodies would be more effective.youre going to have to rely on tarpitting and whittling him down, negate his magic, and dont worry so much about his leadbelchers, they have an impressive amount of shots but wont really affect the game so much in the long term, cannon could cause issues..and biggies will kill you fast, thundertusk, stonehorn, mournfangs, all will cave your head in fast..what you want to do is effectively take the charge away from him to negate impact hits and from there youll need to be clever as to where you apply pressure and damage, they are ogres and nothing you have will last long against him in combat..a few turns and they make your units whither away, so anvil and hammer , but dont let him get the impact hits..especially from the big monsters..to present the monsters damage potential consider mournfangs or thundertusk/stonehorn..now imagine you standing in front of an oncoming train and trying to stop it..yea they hit that hard |
