ya thats what i heard too. I would be extremely disappointed if that happened though (shooting after assault) because shooting is such a huge phase in 40k and changing it like that would crush all shooty armies. They seem to be pushing toward a fantasy style but in fantasy shooting is good but not the most important part.

Meh, 's why I stick to roleplaying for 40k. They do have very, very nice models for a lot of things though. A Tau - Dark Eldar starting kit would sorely tempt me, them being two of the best looking ranges out there imo, especially the DE. I really want some DE |

There's a lot of discussion going on over a supposedly leaked playtest copy of 6th ed rules on numerous 40K forums.

my entire 4 fantasy armies say shooting phases doesn't move to after combat. I know people who work at GW HQ and non of them have mentioned this. Althought 40k is rubbish under the last 2 set of rules so I dunno why I even replied. |

I have seen the copy of the play test 6th Ed PDF that's out there, and it looks too legite not to be real. There are a lot of changes in it, but the biggest is probably shooting is now after combat but it looks like units get to make charge reactions. So yeah they are making it closer to fantasy. One of the first things in the book's intro was them talking about how they made the game faster so you could have bigger games. Which is what they did with 8th Ed. |

The biggest problem with 40k was the after combat phase. Consolidation was the stupidest rule they even introduced I just slaughtered these men we are armed for combat you have men 2" away but we can't over run or anything so we will line up next to them so in the next turn they can shoot me in the face. Regardless of what the new edition holds I seriously doubt it is going to make me re-buy my blood angel army. Though I may have not been told because of my anti 40gays attitude. The complete lack of tactics that is involve in 40k is unreal. They need to fix "charging" & "flanking" as it does NOTHING under the current rules. And as already said combat units walking up to the next unit and going hey guys how you doing. O why did you shoot me in the face. |

Thats pretty much why I put up my BT, that consolidation rule screwed my black templars to the wall, sure we have preferred enemy which is now really good. but I used to be able to charge you on your turn. and they took that away. |

I prefer the rumours that say chaos will be in the starter set.
Why would that matter? Fantasy doesn't have the same game phases as 40K even as it is. Or does your 4 armies say 40K will get a Magic Phase too? According to the leaked rules it will be moved. |

It matters because it would screw up the game system specially when someone writes a book and goes yeah these guys can fire weapons after being in combat. Other than that I don't see your point. Do we have a topic for random BS speculations yet ? O and I doubt it is going around in PDF form as it would be all over the internet if that was the case. |

Well, it IS all over the Internet. The conflicting messages of course dampens the enthusiasm. A lot of people are saying fake now. For the record, it would not be the first time an (un)intentional pre-book ruleset was leaked for 40k. I haven't of course seen the actual document now talked about. |

Of course it is fake lol. Shooting after combat yeah sure. My book also says I start on 1000 VPS because I wrote it in with a pen lol. I liked 3rd edition I dunno why they changed it! 4Th annoyed me. 5Th I was bugged to play till I wrote a Nid list that slaughtered everyone. Though the marines managed to break it a few times by firing and falling back (at least that fits the Nid vs marine stories). I hope 6Th is good but I seriously can't see it. And at this point the only way I will start 40k again is if the skaven fire themselves in the void and appear! |

Since the fact that leaked play testing rules may been out there on the internet I'm going to remind people that posting links to them here is a big no no.

I wouldn't say of course. Last time I saw one of these leaked docs it was 5th edition almost straight on. Why do they ever change an edition. To make us buy new rules. Maybe "fix" some things, get rid of the stack of FAQs that accrue. 3rd certainly had issues. The Rhino rush was definitely one. In our group the rules themselves were never such an issue as the impact it tended to have on our armies, which of course never gets update as fast as the marines ones. I can't recall exactly what in 5th ed broke it for us. I've played only a few games. The first one vs the Orks where I utterly ran then over with my Chaos Marines convinced the Ork player the game sucked. But that in no small part was his insistence on not embracing the new 4th ed Ork book. Since the 4th ed Chaos codex was lame I really didn't push so we've played mostly WHFB. |
