This one has a little more punch to it, the clanrat unit with the lord and bsb really just sit there and move up in the middle to give better LD to everyone else, they'll never run because of the slaves, so this, usually bad idea becomes pretty good Slave Rebellion 2400pts Warlord Silver steel armour Talisman of protection Sword of Quarrel 190pts (190pts) -Heroes- Chieftain battle standard bearer warpstone armour 100pts Warlock Engineer level 2 100pts Warlock Engineer level 2 100pts (300pts) Clanrat Unit (70) shields full command 335pts Clanrat Slaves (20) slings, musician, pawleader 58pts Clanrat Slaves (20) slings, musician 52pts Clanrat Slaves (20) slings, musician 52pts Clanrat Slaves (20) slings, musician 52pts Clanrat Slaves (20) slings, musician 52pts Clanrat Slaves (20) slings, musician 52pts Clanrat Slaves (51) slings, musician, pawleader 133.5pts Clanrat Slaves (50) slings, musician, pawleader 131pts Clanrat Slaves (50) slings, musician, pawleader 131pts Clanrat Slaves (50) slings, musician, pawleader 131pts Clanrat Slaves (50) slings, musician, pawleader 131pts Clanrat Slaves (50) slings, musician, pawleader 131pts (1333pts) Hellpit Abomination 235pts Hellpit Abomination 235pts (470pts) 2399.5pts |

Your thinking about this the wrong way. your thinking "Oh if I through 400 steadfast slaves out there nothing will ever break through right?" Wrong. Youve got so many slaves it will be impossible to keep them inside your leadership bubble, the slings are cute but even with that many they are going to maybe kill 10 models a turn (combined with the whole army). In addition, the only real punch in the list are the 2 abombs, sure they may be tough but a good opponent will take those out, and then be happy to duke it out with your slaves (unless they are elves) neither of you will die but he'll win through gaining only 500 points. the concept is a good idea, but it doesnt work to simply flood the field with 500 models. any skaven player with a standard list facing this one will have more heavy hitters to through at you. and that bunker is way to small for a strategy like this, one thirteenth or a few dwellers could spell the end for you. I dont know, it might confuse the enemy to have so many units and models standing on the table. I kind of like the idea. Allthough I must agree that, pointwise you would probably lose and will probably be unable to do a lot of damage. I think the trick to work with this would be to use all the slave units to hold up the enemy's unit and let the HPA's do their part of the job (probably working together, allthough with HPA 's that skind of dangerous...) What I wouldnt do, is put in units of 20 . You'd do best to at least use units of 30 to 40. If you are going to do this, at least take a picture of the tabletop after you deployed them. It would look amazing. Especially if you go up against an ogre unit which only would hold like 4 to 6 units . hehe. (allthough secretely I must confess that Mathusala is right...it wont work. ) |

Oh I know it won't work, thats never the point, and yes i can easily just mash the 20 units together, thats no issue its not about things working, I rarely won with my old night goblins but I always had a blast playing them and thats what I want, is to have fun-and this looks like fun to me |

thats a close line to call. but i will say your playing at a _____ point disadvantage where _____ is how many slave units are outside the bubble. those will almost auto break |

As a potential idea to make this seem -somewhat- usable, why not do a test to see how many slave units you can reliably fit inside the bubble and run with that many, then add in some punching units with any overflow points? I imagine you could still get a large number of slaves on the table using that idea (and just for a fun thought, you could get a larger bubble with a Screaming Bell, though that's only for the leader bubble.) Anyway, my thoughts on the matter are simple. The reason Night Gobbo lists can be fun is due to how many Fanatics you can field, even though Night Gobbos stink under the other conditions. You don't get that same benefit with Slaves, so what you might try doing is reducing the slaves a bit and using their Expendable rule with things like Warpfire Throwers and Poison Wind Mortars. After all, you have to do something to cause the rebellion in the first place, right? All I'm saying is, if you're going to abuse a low cost unit, then you may as well abuse all their rules. Flooding the field with Slaves alone, not so great, but flooding the field with units your opponent will almost NEVER break, then dropping template weapons onto units that have been locked into combat and can't threaten you anymore, hilarious. That is true, this is very much a work in progress, I could toss some weapon teams in there, or some globadiers, always loved them though I do think this idea will work for my gnoblar army, again more fun then useful lol Edited by Lord Poison, 8th January 2012 - 08:59 PM.
