Since this has appeared only in White Dwarf and with no real announcement, I'm guessing that very few of us know about this. Well, time to change that ![]() January's White Dwarf contains the first of three parts to a mini-expansion, written by Jervis Johnson, that provides a few extra rules for when two sides of the same army clash (i.e Skaven vs Skaven, Empire vs Empire, etc). Something very apt for us Skaven players I feel I'll give a quick overview of how it works:To play a civil war you roll for or choose a pitched battle from the BRB. You then roll on the generic Civil War battle table which applies a set of rules to both armies. You then roll on an Army-specific table to apply a further set of special rules to both armies. The armies are chosen as normal but you have the added option of of using 'Faction' rules, which is great for theming it further (so you can represent Skryre vs Moulder for example). If you go for factions then both players get an additional 25% of the total points to spend on anything in the army book (except for magic items) without the normal restrictions, so at 2K for example I could add another 5 Warp-lightning cannons while my opponent could take another two Hell Pit Abominations if we were so inclined ![]() The part in Jan contains the generic table and tables for Vampires, Beastmen, Ogres and Lizardmen, so I'm going to have to wait for the next issue or the one after to bring you news of the Skaven one. |

Does this month cover the general rules? In short do I need this months White Dwarf or can I just wait until you tell us which one has the Skaven rules in and buy that one? | |

This month contains the generic table that you roll on before the army-specific one and the general how you set it up guide (which I have more or less sort of not quite covered). All we technically need are the two tables, the first of which is in this one. What would be kind of GW would be for them to put the articles into the online WD archive that anyone with an account on their site can access, although I doubt they will. TINKER: Then again, they have uploaded the 40K Spearhead Expansion to the site, so there's always the possibility. Edited by Warlock Matik, 7th January 2012 - 03:40 PM.

Good thing I didn't forget the portable warp-defibrillator. Right, for anyone still interested in this or who at least got the first part in January, the Skaven-specific table of this expansion is in this month's White Dwarf. Again, they may or may not upload the whole set to the GW site at some point in the future and I'll raise this thread again if I catch sight of it. |
