Stormvermin will get shot to pieces before getting anywhere. And no one will bother about the giant rats . And if the shots didnt do it, then the magic will get them on their knees. The thing is that at 1000 points, the enemy will bring more then one unit. I for example would put a block in front of your stormvermins, shoot a well aimed shot in your giant rats to get them running and then put a third unit in the stormvermins flank for the second round.` Then in the second round, you d get my second unit in your flanks, which will make you loose steadfast. Then you'd have to roll very good dice , because every model you loose more then me, will make you loose leadership. And with chieftains your leadership is only 6 at the most. I honestly think that I could make you run with 2 units of 30 clanrats and 2 PWM's. Or with 2 units of 5 gutter runners. Or one lvl 2 warlock engineer. Or a group of 20 high elf archers. ` Or ... Either way... you'd be dead meat unless your opponent really doesnt know what he or she is doing. |

Yeah I guess just cause you can do something doesn't mean you should. I 'm gonna scratch this one without a play test. |

The stormvermin thing might be interesting in a much larger army. (2000 points maybe). That way you can make the stormvermins the backbones of your army and use the 1000 extra points to give them the backup they need. It could work and it would be able to witstand a lot, but not on its own. As for the giant rats... I tried it a couple of times myself. I'm a big fan of the giant little ones and I am looking for ways to implement them in my army (as well as the Rat ogres of which I am also a huge fan). Nowadays I use 3 ratdarts to put on the tabletop at the very beginning. This way my opponent is forced to put out 3 of his units before even knowing what I'm about to do. But they dont do much more then running around, stalling the occasional unit and then getting slaughtered up when they try anything more then ...well just running around. (I have actually been thinking of converting one rat dart unit into some kind of santa claus theme. With the packmaster being santa claus on a sledge, being pulled by the giant rats... ) But back to topic:` Giant rats work as rat darts, or when you field a large number of them (40+) with skweel Gnawtooth as their packmaster. Especially when you get the +4 regenerate, they all of the sudden become better then clanrats... - for a lot more points - as long as their packmaster doesnt die - as long as they are not taken in the flank -... So far , what my 23 rats and 2 packmaster unit has ever accomplished, was to get lost in a poisoned forest, and then getting trampled down by a unit of ogres who afterwards complained about the lack of meat on my giant rats bones... |
