My friends have to decided to bump up our armies to 2k since money and models will be coming in for the holidays.
I am interested in Mathusalas "Standard List" I tried to tone it down to 2k. I'm not sure if these tactics will carry over
in a lower point game. but here is my attempt

LORDS-310

Grey Seer-310 (General) (lvl 4 Mage)
-lvl 4
-D3 Tokens
-Talisman of Protection
-Dispel Scroll

HEROES-326

Plague Priest-254 (Hammer 1)
-Frenzy
-Flail
-Furnace

Chieftain-72 (BSB)
-Heavy Armour
-Shield
-BSB

CORE-641

23xClanrats-157 (Bunker)
-Light Armour
-PWM

2 Units of:
50xSlaves-102
-Musician

40xClanrats-257
-Light Armour
-Shield
-Musician
-Standard
-PWM

Rat Dart-23

SPECIAL-398

35xPlague Monks-290
-Frenzy
-2 Hand Weapons
-Musician
-Standard
-Plague Banner

6xGutter Runners-108
-Poison
-Slings

RARE-325

HPA-235

WLC-90

This list is a little bit over the 200 model mark total. Any advice or help would really be appreciated and used.

Looks alright, I wish you could fit in a warlock with a doom rocket but I dont think its possible, I would consider dropping the gutter runners for a storm banner however, your not sitting on a huge amount of ranged devices,

- Save yourself 85 points. Turn the clan rat bunker into a 30 slave bunker + musician and champ. Lose 4 clan rats and you're down to Ld 9 for that bunker (and it's easy to lose 4 clan rats). Beside that bunker unit does nothing but sit behind other units, so why waste so many points? PWM is a reason why you might take a CR unit but I found them underwhelming in 2k where the blocks are smaller. Better spend the points elsewhere really.

- 50 slaves are good but you might get away with 40 in 2k as 'fun busses' are smaller and doesn't hit as hard. In 2.4k you might meet horded CW warriors, in 2k they will be smaller and certainly not in a horde. This is a personal preference, between 40 or 50. Don't bother with the shields but a 5 pt iron curse icon is worthwhile.

- BSB + Ld standard = win.

- Engineer + doomrocket like mentioned. Especially vs T3, no ward.

- Scroll on PP and give Earthing rod to your GS instead. Useful since he is your general and you'll be rolling 6 dice for 13th.

- More gutter runner units. Maybe 3 x 6. You should have at least 2 x 6 if you want them to hunt warmachines. If you're expecting a warmachine heavy meta, then storm banner and drop the WLC. Take DW/another HPA instead.

- More rat darts. 3 is optimum imo but they are a little fiddly to use as they are easily killed and cause panic. You have to account for units that might cause them panic and make sure their flee path from unit target doesn't go through any of your own unit.

- Bump the 23 CR to 25 and use it as a flanking unit instead.

- With this list, small unit with good armour will give you trouble if your HPA die and you don't pin them with slaves (like flanking knights). You'll need a way to counter vs these

Thanks for the help, I'm not sure why but there are really not any war machines in my shop except for 2 guys who play dwarves and empire.
So that kinda means I don't need to take storm banner or more gutter runners. Is there a reason to take any gutter runners??

So I changed up some things, 2 rat darts, added to my bunker, got a doomrocket, and an earthing rod.

LORDS-310

Grey Seer-310 (General) (lvl 4 Mage)
-lvl 4
-D3 Tokens
-Talisman of Protection
-Earthing Rod

HEROES-396

Plague Priest-254 (Hammer 1)
-Frenzy
-Flail
-Furnace
-Dispel Scroll

Chieftain-72 (BSB)
-Heavy Armour
-Shield
-BSB

Warlock Engineer-45
-Doomrocket

CORE-583

28xClanrats-1167 (Bunker)
-Light Armour
-PWM

2 Units of:
40xSlaves-82
-Musician

40xClanrats-257
-Light Armour
-Shield
-Musician
-Standard
-PWM

Rat Dart-23

Rat Dart-23

SPECIAL-380

35xPlague Monks-290
-Frenzy
-2 Hand Weapons
-Musician
-Standard
-Plague Banner

5xGutter Runners-90
-Poison
-Slings

RARE-325

HPA-235 (Hammer 2)

WLC-90

Some quick questions:

-I don't really know when to throw how many dice into ruin or how many into plague is there some kind of run down??
-Do I drop Gutter Runners?
-Do I stick the engineer into a unit or just have him walk around?

Thanks for any help, Ataboy

- Give the bunker rats shields, musician and standard at least. You can drop some number from the 40 block
- What lore you throw depends on what you're facing. There was a thread in the tactics page about this. In general, plague is useful due to wither, CoC and plague spell. Ruin is if you have something specific to counter (stank, low ini, flyer) or there are tight block of T3 unarmoured expensive units. Once you know what is going to be your strategy and what unit in your opponent list that you cannot counter with your troop, see if your magic can do it directly or buff up a unit to do it. Throw as many dice into that lore as possible then
- There are a bazillion of uses for gutter runners, direct and tactical. Someone really need to write one I think. Basically they're useful in almost every army you will face except all-knights brett or all-warrior CW with no supports
- In a unit. Walking alone means you are easily sniped with magic missile or cheap bowshots

Good luck with your game

LORDS-310

Grey Seer-310 (General) (lvl 4 Mage)
-lvl 4
-D3 Tokens
-Talisman of Protection
-Earthing Rod

good build

HEROES-396

Plague Priest-254 (Hammer 1)
-Frenzy
-Flail
-Furnace
-Dispel Scroll

good

Chieftain-72 (BSB)
-Heavy Armour
-Shield
-BSB

good

Warlock Engineer-45
-Doomrocket

good keep him in a unit until he fires off the doom rocket, as soon as hes done that you can use him as a rat dart or just run him away.

CORE-583

28xClanrats-1167 (Bunker)
-Light Armour
-PWM

get a musician and banner, music for reforming, banner for "Blodd and Glory" shield are not necessary but i would still recommend them. I'd at least have the though of putting a champion in this unit, just in case a flying character comes your way you can chump challenge.

2 Units of:
40xSlaves-82
-Musician

good

40xClanrats-257
-Light Armour
-Shield
-Musician
-Standard
-PWM

good

Rat Dart-23

good

Rat Dart-23

good

SPECIAL-380

35xPlague Monks-290
-Frenzy
-2 Hand Weapons
-Musician
-Standard
-Plague Banner

good

5xGutter Runners-90
-Poison
-Slings

wish you could get more, but good.

RARE-325

HPA-235 (Hammer 2)

WLC-90

rares are fine.

Some quick questions:

-I don't really know when to throw how many dice into ruin or how many into plague is there some kind of run down??

I'd just go for plague, the only armies I find myself taking ruin against are ogres and wood elves.

-Do I drop Gutter Runners?

they are all around useful, but you need more of them.

-Do I stick the engineer into a unit or just have him walk around?

as above

Thanks for any help, Ataboy
