Hello fellow rats,

I have a question for rats who are smart with SkryrePuters. (Or was it clan Com-puter)
If i buy a Game such as Need for Speed, Skyrim or whatever..... Does it take memory of my computer? Or how does that work actually?
FOR THE GLORY OF THE HORNED RAT OF COURSE!

Well each game will use a set amount of HDD space which is x and a set amount of memory which you will get 2 ratings for
x which is the minimum and
x which is recommended

Generally people don't struggle with HDD space unless your pc is from the dark ages.
Your Memory = ram however can be a bit different as a lot of providers don't give you a machine with enough ram.

So generally you need 2 figures the amount of memory / ram your OS will use and the recommended amount for the game you wish to play. Because your OS will always still be running in the background behind your game so it still needs that ram.

So if you where on windows 7 it would be
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit) + the recommended ram of the game you want. Vs the amount of actual ram you have.

You have two basic types of memory RAM (Random Access Memory) and ROM (Read Only Memory) - RAM is used while running a game while ROM is used to store all of the game's data. So, in general you will have a minimum RAM requirement to play the game smoothly, and then a ROM storage requirement. The RAM isn't 'taken up' by the game - you just need to meet the requirement, while ROM is what's used up.

In general, a computer will have around 2-4 Gb of RAM and then your hard drive (anything from 120 Gb to 1Tb, more in some cases) is your ROM. Most games will require about 2-3 Gb of RAM and will take up around 1-5Gb of ROM.

That's a very basic and very general overview of what I think you're asking about. Feel free to ask more questions if you need.
