Why not go into your GW with a few hours to kill and read it in store>? Then you can decide that skaven are better and not bother with that filth

As Mathusala said, downloading armybooks for free is against copyright laws and something that GW will get unhappy about, so it is something we would like to keep off this forum for legal reasons. If you're just curious you are allowed to read the store copy, but if you do want a copy of your own, one possibility is to check out ebay or similar online stores and see if you can buy it cheaper from overseas. I have to agree that prices are horribly inflated in Oz, and it's not just warhammer. One reason I believe is that the Aussie dollar traditionally has been about $0.60 USD (and close to 0.30 pounds), but in the last year plus has risen to equal the USD. As is with these things the retail price hasn't adjusted to match. Which on the flip side means that you can potentially buy the O&G armybook online from a US seller for about AUD$50 including shipping, whereas before it'd have cost more to do so.

Really, the better way to go if you don't want to pay $AU prices for product is to import. Works great for books, computer games... Just about anything! Try to find a copy of your desired book on eBay or from a foreign retailer, like Book Depository. I got my full set of Dungeons & Dragons 4th Ed. books for ~$60AU from Amazon US and some places sell them for that much each around here. Alternatively, you could just get a job.

GW should really think about selling books to a digital market, with more and more people that have pdf readers it could do well... maybe

Mate, even with a full time job I still struggle to justify the extra $14 for an armybook just because it's hardcover and "bursting with colour" now. I definitely agree with digital copies, definitely. It would be amazingly convenient to be able to carry your rules with you wherever you go without having to lug around a stack of hardcover bricks. |

I prefer real books. Big, heavy books full of text and hand drawn images. Books so big they had to cut down five trees just to print one copy. Nothing gives a feeling as good as saying "I'll have to look that up" and pulling out a titanic rulebook of 6500 pages filled with knowledge and wisdom, slowly making your way to the page you need. It gives a feeling of accomplishment when you, after an hour of frantic searching, finally locate the tiny line you need and can say "Oh, I guess you were right after all. Nevermind." Digital stuff just isn't the same. "Yeah, I'll check my data-pad." *bleep bleep* |
