Is there too much in this?

Hey, i dont have my army book on me, so i'm not sure about exact points. This is a list i had in mind. Its probably around 2500. Do you guys think I got too much bling in there?

Grey Seer on Bell (General)

Plague Priest on Furnace
Chieftain bsb
Lvl2 Warlock Engineer (warp energy condenser)
Naked Warlock (doomrocket)

30-40 Plague Monks for furnace
30-40 Clanrats for Bell

3-5x Rat Darts
3x 6 Gutter Runners with slings and poison

2 wlc
2 hpa

And then filling up rest of points with as many 40 slave units as i can.

Like I said, i dont have my army book with me, so i have no idea what points are, but the basic idea is Bell (with enough clanrats), Furnace (with enough plague monks), 3 Gutter Runner units, 2 HPA, 2 WLC, BSB, and 2 Engineers, with slaves for numbers and filler, all in 2500 points. I probably cant pull this off with the 25 percent core requirement, but if i can, what do you think? Will there be too many nasties in this list? Maybe if i only take one HPA, using the points for clanrats and slaves.

Will you even meet your core allocation? That is very low core!

I would pretend I care at this point but 2 abombs really>? lame

You would pretend you care? Thats a little harsh dont you think? Maybe you could try to be a little....nicer?

Nonetheless, you are right. Methinks I rely too heavily on my abomb(s). I read in Caps thread recently that if you take out an armies key piece, their plan falls apart. That describes me to a t. Kill my abomb and its usually over. Maybe I should retire my hpa for awhile, to learn how to play without him. He really is a crutch.

If I was nice people would probably think it is the end of the world.

And the fact is till 8th we had no big bad monster. I have never taken an Abomb. And the locals will tell you "if you can beat skavendan you can beat any list".

People get obsessed on what will win you the game if you remove the obvious game winners then they go but but how can you win your entire army is poor? Yes it is but in the end you will run out of men before I run out of rats which is a skaven win.

And remember if you have no big hitters or monsters there is no big lose a unit is simply part of a chain if it fails another takes it's place. With more units than your enemy it is easier to flank your enemy if you have them engaged on 2 front even by poor quality troops eventually you will win the combat and then you start to run though your enemies flank they get really upset.

And besides that it proves you do not need abombs and you can do win without them. I don't know about you but I get a reasonable amount of respect for not fielding an abomb.

And side from that should you ever play missions your low on standards.

There is a local guy here who used to play skaven until he switched to empire and beastmen. His tactic was similar to yours. He had a Warlord general, a lvl 2 engineer, then masses upon masses of clanrats and slaves, deployed like a checkerboard all over the table. He had a few other things, but his main idea was 12+ units of clanrats/slaves. He was very rarely beaten. Is this your way, too?

I simply dont have the models to play like this...yet. But I do so love the skaven toys.

Generally I have 3 units of clanrats 3 units of slaves. lots of mortars.
about 3 warlocks lvl1 with warplightning throw 1 dice at it.(really annoys people when it casts) 2 cannons.
3 units of gutter runners if you want to. It is a mean combo.

You can take skaven a lot of different ways.

Yea a single unit of 30-40 Clanrats won't get you near satisfying your core requirements.

If you want a moderately "normal" list, you'll definitely need to pull some slaves in.

Nothing else is too outrageous (except for the already identified double abom)

I promise it works, if you can wean yourself from relying on any one unit in your army you'll strengthen your ability on the battlefield to compensate for sudden losses, and weaken your opponent's ability to hinder your gameplan. That's what practice games are for, try things out, tie a hand behind your back and see if you can still best an opponent; if you lose so what? You'll definitely learn a thing or two, and may find a few new tricks that don't pop off the page when you look at them 'on paper'.

Thanks, cap! I will consider my abomb "shelved". Wow, i am feeling an emptiness already. I definately need to pick up some more clanrats/slaves.
