1500 friendly tournament list

Hi all,

i've got a friendly league that's just about to start. the opponents i'll be facing are vampires, dark elves, high elves, orcs and demons.

army composition states:
-1500 pts army
-no special characters,
-max 2 same core units, max 1 special and 1 rare unit,
-magical banner max cost is 45pts,
-max 3 war machine and max 2 template shooting weapons (doomrocket counts),
-300 points per unit
-hell pit abomination banned

so, after careful consideration this is the list that i could manage to muster:

Gray Seer (general) - skalm, earthning rod - 295 pts
Warlord - shield, BSB - 72 pts
Warlock engineer - doomrocket - 45 pts

27 skavenslaves + musician - 56 pts
27 skavenslaves + musician - 56 pts
27 plague monks + standard + musician + plague banner - 234 pts
27 stormermin + shield + standard + musician + razor standard - 249 pts

6 gutter runners + poison + slings - 108 pts

doomwheel - 150 pts
warp lightning cannon - 90 pts

= 1355 pts

now i'm stuck and don't know what to do...
should i 'beef up' core units, better equip my characters, add something i haven't even thought about, add an assassin to deal with that annoying vampire lord?

what would you change?

Yes, bump up your unit numbers.

I'd reccomend dropping either the monks or stormvermin for clan rats; I know clan rats don't have as much hitting power, but the list that you have now is going to struggle with outnumbering/outflanking opponents.

(Random Aside: Maxing out the number of duplicate core choices someone can take is asinine; they're CORE for a reason.)

Why did they not ban the Hydra. It is similar or better than the Hell Pit Abomination. Expect the Dark Elves to use two of those.

Im suggesting a clanrat unit with a mortar attached, take away the doom rocket to free up the template attack. More reliable and multi-use.

Sorry if i was unclear, writing a big long annoying thing at the same time. Yay procRATstination.

Mutate: Gnawed the numbers, if you take out the warlock fully (without doomrocket hes pretty pointless) add in a 20 rats with a PWM, takes you to near enough 1500

PWM may have 1 less wound than a engineer, but with a 4+ ward when with the parent unit, as well as if your crafty, not needing line of sight (keeping the mortar out of harms way) i see it as quite a bit sturdier than a warlock with DR.

The Doomrocket often inflicts more damage than many shots from a Mortar.

You could always poke in some Jezzails too then. Im far from an expert at this but im worried about your lack of ranged capabilities. After your DR goes off, anything at range is either to be dealt with by a hopefully speedy doomwheel, but that could go down fast or not get there in time, or your WLC which may be tied up in bigger targets.

Also have you considered censer bearers?

Neither Jezzails or Censor Bearers work in this edition, because they cost a lot and die fast/don't do enough. I think he should leave those out. He's got solid shooting in the Cannon and the Gutter Runners. The Doomwheel deals with monsters easily, and the Cannon can gun down a lot of stuff fast.
