for one thing, this should go in the army list forum.

now for advice,

i think a furnace at lvl 2 with a 30 (id go 35 or 40) man unit is perfectly applicable at 2000 points, hell i take a grey sear on a bell with 40 clanrats, that units about 800 points (in 2500)

Okay how do i move it?
You ask a moderator to move the topic for you. Normally, one of the Council of Thirteen will be scurrying around the tunnels, and we're happy to oblige.

Regular members can't move or delete topics themselves, and it's considered bad form to repost the same topic in a different tunnel. Just post asking a Council member to move the topic for you; we stay on our toes, and we're pretty quick about these things.

Took a plague furnace to the Crucible of Souls and it worked really well. What I've learnt is that since it's the biggest threat in your army, it'll attract a lot shooting/magic so you should look to buff up the number of monks. I ran 34 and that seemed a pretty good number.

I don't really see a benefit of PP lvl 2. He tends to die in most combat and isn't worth buying expensive ward for with 2 wounds. Better to keep him cheap with flail and a disposable arcane item instead.

Dude. We are ratmen. Of course we are on our toes. :P

On topic: I also agree that a Furnace is acceptable in a 2K army. And I agree that it will attract a LOT of shooting. So either go shooting light and take the stormbanner and shadow magnet trinket, etc, or take other juicy targets (WLCs and HPAs, a different general placed in another units...)
I believe the general UE.net consensus seems to take at least 35 PMs with your furnace, and many like to run it in horde formation. Oh. And with the plague banner.

In 2K I would shy away from lord level characters however, but that is just a personal thing I suppose.

Just finished a 2k 2-day tournament today. Everyone ran lords. Personally I ran a cheap grey seer (just a dispell scroll) and Warlord and it worked really well although I did have to drop the furnace for this.

Yes i just come back from the TD i did not take the PF but a GS in a bunker of 25 CR with the SB. i played 5 games and won 4 of them and i would have won the 5th if not for failed a LD test on 9 with a reroll  BU HU but that is whey we roll the dice :) but back on topic, i don't think ill eaver take a PF in a 2000 p game. The reason is that i think i need that lvl 4 mage for the dispel, even thow im not good at using my mage, especially not when i have plague spells (low ranges) i dont think ill do as well without him.

PS. The 13th took out a Slan in round one, gotta love that :D

You guys talked about taking a PF at 2000pt,

At 1500 points, should PF stay at home? or is this big enough of a game??

Definitely stay at home. At 1500 points, your PP with PF will be your general and a couple of cannons will ruin your day

At 1500 points he can still take a Seer or a Warlord to act as his general; the Furnace wouldn't default to his general unless he had no other LD 7 or LD6 characters. The Furnaces is still a pricey investment though for 1500 points, but still quite playable; lower points means less major shooting potential threats than larger point games.

A furnace priest costs rougly 250ish, his unit will cost almost the same. In 1500 thats one third of your entire force. Add a grey seer and there is precious space left for anything at all. A Plague Furnace unit is not durable enough(as in points denial) to warrant such an investment at that level. I'd say 2500- 3000 points is where the Furnace belongs
