out of curiosity. why the warlord? hes not the armies general if you want to make use of the bells 18" bubble and he has no gear, so why? also, the warlord can only use either the shield or the halbard, not both. having both makes the shield do nothing except give him +1 armor against range which is irrelevant because he will be inside a unit warpscroll is kindov a points waster item. far better choices out their. spears on the clanrats is highly un-recommended. fangleader having poison attacks is a little bit of a waste. other than those small things, pretty solid list. |

I learned pretty early on that hand weapons are better with clanrats, as you then claim a 5+ armor and 6++ ward in close combat, which beats a few extra strength 3 attacks. The only reason I like taking a warlord is to put a Crown of Command on him, or give him the Fellblade. Also find a place to get a dispell scroll, unless you only plan on fighting dwarfs. I would recommend giving that, along with the ironcurse icon to your plague priest instead of the warp scroll. |

Clanrat
|
Clanrats aren't really vicious enough for spears, and you're not hording them for 4 ranks of attacks on your list (not enough expendables in a unit). Generally, clanrats are all about ranks and only 5 files. 5 mediocre clanrat attacks per combat round isn't likely to be worth what a rat dart provides on the field. Only reason to spear/horde clanrats is a death frenzy death star strategy. I think you could make up some points by dropping 10 or more plague monks unless you have something in mind for them. Truthfully, I tend to have a quick kill mentality with plague monks. Plague banner them early against something where it'll make a difference and after that, use them as a reinforcement for other battles unless you haven't lost any. Stocking 50 guys into a unit makes them such a big target for certain magics and templates that you're more likely to end up with fewer monks by starting 50 than by going 35. With the plague furnace, you've got a 5 rank horde, that seems excessive. At 35, with a furnace, your enemies would still need to kill 14 plague monks to break the horde bonuses. The warlord just isn't really worth his points without gear. Too easy to kill, and not enough of a killer himself. Generally, hitting around 150+ points with a mount is when he gets dangerous but if you just can't devote the points, either buy him some cheap armour upgrades or a pure strength upgrade dependent on if your opponents will aim for characters or not. If they do, you want the armour to minimize their wounds and if they don't, go strong, to maximize the wounds you put out. Also, if you expect to have initiative against your enemy - the killy warlord can win certain challenges. You have very limited shooting, so I'd consider making room for a storm banner against certain opponents. Your doomwheel is more likely to get where it needs with an early banner anyway. Dispel scroll and doom rocket are cheap, high value items that are useful against nearly every army. I think your list is pretty decent, but you have about 400 floater points that just aren't providing true value to their units. Edited by Koroviev, 15th October 2011 - 02:41 AM.

NO WARP LIGHTENING CANON!?! I'd sack the warlord and the poisoned wind mortar and get a ratty gun but apart from that it is very good. Viskus |

Cannons have a one in three chance of not hitting anything, thet also require babysiting, doomwheels can support other units, zap monsters with ease |
