Hello all I am really just wondering about when I get 3 boxes of IOB (various friends trading etc) what should I get after I think in total I will want something like 160 clanrats but really I have no clue considering this is my first fantasy army and i played space marines in 40k so I am new to this whole outnumber you opponents thing.
Thanks
Andrew

Clanrats are okay, but any Skaven general will tell you that what you really want is Skavenslaves. Separate out all of your unarmored Clanrats, give them hand weapons (slaves should never have spears), and paint them as Skavenslaves. Slaves are mostly useless for attacking, but you don't want them to attack, you want them to hold up the enemy while you attack with stronger units from the side. Clanrats are slightly better, but they cost twice as much as slaves. Take as many Skavenslaves as you can.

The general idea for the amount of models you want/should field is given by the point value divided by ten.
So if your intending on playing a 1500 point game then you would want to field around 150 models.

Because you seem to be buidling a list for 2000 points you could try the following:
2x40 clanrat units
2x40 slave units

Im not sure what you would like your army to include, but perhaps afte this you could purchase 40 plague monks or
40 storm vermin to add some extra punch. The next step would be some rare units, but depends on what picks your
fancy. I prefer Skyre, so i've picked up a doomwheel.
I would also suggest that you either buy night runners and field them as gutter runers (with slings and poisoned weapons)
as this unit is great at killing high toughness low armour save units and warmachin hunting. There are some threads here
where people have converted clanrats into gutter runners. (1 or 2 units of 5-7 seems to be popular).

hope it helps

When it comes to backbone of the army which consists of clanrats and slaves there is actually no limit. i got 3 box now and i feel like i need 6 more. Welcome to the most expensive army of fantasy :)

for a 2000pts game i wont start without 3 clanrats(40) and 3 slaves(35)+shields and 40stormvermin or plague monks

for 2500 its usuallly 4 clanrats and 4 slaves(40) and 40stormvermin or plague monks maybe both.

In a war some ppl has to die, and when its skaven too many ppl has to die so get as many as expandable guys to avoid loosing powerfull guys.

It seems as though DNA Maniac is playing a true horde list....
as said it depends on what kind of army you want to build :P try playing with the clanrats/slave models you already have in addition to stormvermin/plague monks, a rare unit and some gutter runners.
If it seems as though you need more then you can always buy them later :P.

i was like " i will never play wh, 10 guys fighting with 20 elves, where is the real war then?" Then i catch a glimpse "The Horde" then i was there saying; "A horde army? hell yeah i am in!"

What else can you expect from me? :D

Also dont forget to read how to build a skaven army page in the book, it really wants you to outnumber and outflank your oppenet or simply quit :D
