hey guys In my last post I was listing my concern about facing the empire threat. His answer is now to go full on mortors and rocket batterys. Which is fine, I dont mind him blowing.chunks out of my skavrn slaves but hes got a tactic which is driving me mad. He places his rocket batters and morters with a bodyguard each of troops, effectivley making it harder for nightrunners to dispose of his artillery. For his rocket battery you have to guess the range? So he.keeps a unit of crossbow men next to it, and he aims the full length with the bowmen, is that legal? |

Your opponent doesn't need to be that devious, as range guessing is gone in 8th edition (see p. 112 for cannons, and p. 114 for stone throwers, for example). He can just plunk down a marker as his aiming point, then see where the rocket lands. Prior to 8th edition, he would have been cheating, as 'guess range' weapons had to fire first to prevent exactly what he is doing. Skavendrool |

I know how cannons work, but the empire rocket battery still states on the rulebook that range needs be guessed, stated in the empire rulebook. |

Have you checked the FAQ. It may be that they removed the guess range there... | |

Nightrunners? Really? Just convert them to gutterrunners and let them enter the board from the edge closest to the warmachines. Mortars (and I guess even rocket batteries) have a minimal range, so they should be burried by a heap of poisoned stones before they can do anything. Alternativly (or additionaly), you can just use a stormbanner. |

Annoying line? Grab a storm banner, get tunnelers and so on. And you can always skitter a grey seer to cast cracks call which automatically destroys warmachines. Defeat he/she so well that he/she will swear to newer do that again

Warmachines and Chariots get a 5+ roll to avoid Crack's Call instead of taking an I test - read your book

As for tunnel teams they can be caught up, and enter the battle when the damage is already done. Flem, |

Are you skaven or not ? the bigger the risk the greater the prize! You can doubt just about everything skaven if you want to because all of it has an element of epic fail when you have that bad game! But back to the topic. Storm Banner, cannons, Tunnelers, Gutter runners, warplightning. All of these things can kill enemy war machines fairly well. Hell if you hate them that much give the carpet to an assassin additional hand weapon and tail weapon and "FLY" him into a cannon on turn 2. That will make your opponent pull a funny face. Just make sure it isn't a cannon that can stand and shoot. |
