So today I went down to my local hobby store and, ignoring the crazy price, bought myself a pack of Stormvermin. I know their good from reading battle reports and things but why? I mean heavy armor is nice but there has got to be more to it than that. Also a quick 'Were and how to use' would be good to know. Thanks, Sritt |

They are our best infantry WS, I, S wise (not saying much..), and can take Magic banners BUT they die faster than clanrats and are more expensive than a plague monk (if you give them shields). You only get 11 attacks if they are 5 wide.....with champ.... They are also extremely badass and fun to use. = ) Personal preference mostly. Edited by Rakchew, 11th September 2011 - 11:51 PM.

I5 and halbards with heavy armour. If you play with Queek, they become expensive and awesome. |

Personally, I love using them despite the occasional hype that they are overpriced. But on a related abet different note which models do you like better for the Stormvermin? I love the old models.. am I the only one? |

One thing i can see being awesome about them over plague monks is the ability to death frenzy them. This coupled with the Razor standard would be brutal against most enemy forces.. only problem is you will be loosing models so you would need to field a big expensive unit....

They are pretty good. Even if you only take a small unit to protect mages and take a magic banner etc |

Ι don't find them expensive. Dwarf warriors cost 10 points (8 plus 2 Great Weapon). Their initiative is...2! I usually give them shields, almost all enemies find them really juicy, wonder why...? Once I fielded all 100 SV I own, 2*40 horde formation plus 20 (5 wide) in which I placed some characters and left a bit behind. Loved the look on the opponents face, When I literally fιlled the table with 300+ models... PS. In the previous example with the dwarfs, come to think of it, do they strike simultaneously or do SV strike first?

Aye, no penalty for Halberds, but the dwarves with GW's would auto strike last, even w/o they have 2 Initiative, meaning literally nothing in the skaven army would strike after them unless it was a character with GW. |

Uses: weapon team carrier magic banner carrier flanking unit (with death frenzy) large deathstar (very vulnerable) warmachine babysitter additional deployment drop Normaly you take small units of 10 if you need to max your banners (f.e. if you really want to give your BSB magic items, the Stormvermin are the ones who have to carry the Stormbanner) or if you just want to squeeze in another warpflame thrower. Against some armies, their meager advanatges suddenly become quite ok. Take darkelfs. They are the only ones who really have good BS shooting, and the stormvermin have the highest armor save against this kind of damage. Additionaly, they can carry the flaming banner, which is more or less vital against the infamous hydra. |

I like having a unit of them because they get overrated by my opponents. In terms of their true value (taking out the intimidation factor, which for me, is their main worth), they're mostly a utility unit. They can get a weapons team and the ability to put more banners on the field. I find their actual stats to not be worth the points unless you're certain that death frenzy will be in your spell list. |

I fancy the stormvermin the most in the army to be honest. Razor standard and horde formation 40 models. They butcher most of the enemies they face against, except the really hardhitting infantry, which I prefer to lock down anyway. They smack away at 3+ to wound, with -2 armour save and have a blast doing whatever they are doing. No one is using ranged in our games though, perhaps things would be different if they did and I had to pick up a stormbanner instead! But I think stormvermin are awesome!
