Hey there, just joined the forum today and was wondering if the PF gets any ward save like the bell. I played a game last night, 2v2 skaven tomb kings vs wood elves and lizards. My furnace got charged by a group of elf guys (can't remember wat type at the moment) and the 2 heroes in the group focused my furnace and preist, killing both with ease, one had a sword that auto wounds and also if I got wounded I had to roll a dice and add it to my leadership, he had to do the same, and who ever has the higher combination of roll and base leadership caused wounds equal to the difference between the two players numbers. Both my priest and furnace dropped before they could do anything. Is it really that easy to kill like 332 points worth? |

The PF does not get a ward save, nor is there a way I can think of that would give it one (though the PP can get one normally) Basically, the PF is a glass cannon of sorts. I say of sorts becuase the situation you encoutered was one where his anit-High T/wounds models got into combat with it. The PF's toughness and wounds profile usually help it from modest ranged fire until it reaches combat. Warmachines or certain spells or magic item combinations will abosultely wreck it still, |

For X points you can give it (and all plague monks) a wardsave of 6 against misiles!!! Using the iron curse icon. Do not post individual point values for items--Cap Edited by CapAmr05, 10th September 2011 - 07:48 PM.

Only against warmachines ;-) The furnace is very vunerable against high strenght models. It is very effective against low T units with high armour, which is a nice extra because plague monks them selves have a problem with high armour saves. With the lack of saves it depends on it's high T and wounds, i found a rival hide talisman to be effective to protect your furnace since you make one model in base contact re-roll. Flem, |

I prefer to make the charge myself! When I play the PF, I usually bring the Screaming Bell with me. The enemy hastily wants to attack it, but I place the PF close and in front. Slaves usually take the flanks. When the enemy approaches, I don't risk stupid charges. I throw the PF on them once they get too close. Initially I accompanied it with a group of SV, but lately I've decided to throw slaves (or clanrats at times) and outflank them by more elite troops. Danger is that they won't be able to outflank or they'll receive a lot of shooting...

There will come a day that vermin shall conquer all lesser races.... the only race that triumphs above all others... the only one that has the numbers to complete the quest.... the only ones that honor the one and only deity... hail hail hail to the Great Horned Rat! As Flem said, that icon only works against warmachines, it has no effect on arrows, crossbows, blowpipes, etc. Anything with poison is also large threat to the furnace (since it can be targeted seperately from it's unit). A unit or two of poisoned skinks can whittle it down pretty quickly while staying out of your charge arc. And a horded unit of Ghouls can bust it up in 1 to 3 rounds of combat, depending on how they direct their attacks and how lucky they roll. --Cap Edited by CapAmr05, 10th September 2011 - 07:47 PM.
